Newborn puppies dying. Should I bottle feed or take them to the vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | unspayed | 57 lbs

Dog just had 7 puppies (third batch) 2 died.. first two batch total 20 puppies all died . She laid one them all . Dont want the five rhat livin to die. Should i take them to vet and let them bottle feed them if so how much vet normally charge

You can bottle feed them yourself, the vet won't do it unless you surrender them to the vet or the SPCA. You should have Roxie spayed, she doesn't sound like a good mother if she won't take care of her puppies. She should not be bred again.

Eleven puppies is a lot of puppies for a dog to have, and it could be that Pepper doesn't have the milk supply to nurse them properly. Make sure you are feeing her a puppy formulated food that will give her the extra calories, calcium, and protein she needs to feed all eight remaining puppies. Also make sure she has access to plenty of fresh water at all times. You are doing the right thing by bottle feeding the puppies, and I would take Pepper and her puppies into the vet first thing in the morning for an exam.

Yes, if Belle at one of her puppies, I would separate the rest. It could be that puppy was sick and that's why she ate it, or she could be a poor mother. Given the chance that she could be a poor mother, I would not mate her again and have her spayed as soon as her milk has dried up. You may need to bottle feed the puppies, and I can give you a link to the website that details how to do it. Keep in mind that raising them yourself is very labor intensive, just like having a newborn, and is a lot of hard work but that may be their best chance for survival if she has eaten one. http://www.2ndchance.info/orphanpuppy.htm

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Some mom dogs are just not good mom dogs. In the circumstances where the mother dog won't feed the puppies you can either try to make Bella lie down and attach the puppies to her nipples (check first that she is producing milk), or if she is refusing the puppies all together you will need to feed and nurse them yourself with a bottle. This involves bottle feeding a puppy replacer (not just milk or 'puppy milk') as well as wiping their penis/vagina and anus so that they will pee and poop. I recommend a visit with the vet for both mom and babies to make sure Bella isn't sick, and to check on the puppies and be shown how to properly bottle feed. Best of luck with Bella and the puppies!

I have a two german shephered dogs. The female one was pregnant and just gave birth to 10 puppies today. But she refused to feed them and didn't even lick them. The puppies' father even tried to lick them. She seemed in shock or overwhelmed by them.
I'm so sorry that one of your puppies has died! It does sound like Jacky isn't a good mother if she isn't feeding them or licking them, and that could be due to her young age. It's never recommended to breed a female dog on her first heat because she won't be emotionally or physically mature enough to care for them properly as you are seeing with Jacky. Some dogs are also just poor mothers naturally, and that could be the case as well with her. You are going to have to raise these puppies yourself if you want them to have the best chance to survive, but please keep in mind that newborn puppies are very fragile. Care for them is intensive and there may be other ones who don't make it. I will put a link below to a website detailing how to raise orphan puppies. As for Jacky, I would be quite concerned she would repeat this behavior with future litters, so I would recommend having her spayed before her next heat. Newborn puppy not feeding from the tet and from the feeding bottle he doesn't suck the milk he don't have cleft palate he is weak and cold I'm trying everything please help me
I'm so sorry to hear about your pup. First step is to warm him up. A Heating pad set on low with the cloth cover on will work. Other types of warm packs are ok too as long as there is a towel/cloth between the heat source and the pup. Keep heating until a rectal temp of 99 is achieved. Meanwhile, rub a small amount of white karo syrup or honey on his gums to help with low blood sugar. Between these two things he will hopefully perk up within 10-20 minutes enough to take the bottle/teat. Then feed as often as he cries. DO NOT try to syringe or force food until you are sure he is swallowing well as this can cause pneumonia if he accidentally inhales a little. Side note: I know it's silly, but be sure that you have poked a hole in the nipple of the bottle (many come with no opening which is weird). Sometimes, despite these efforts, a puppy will not respond and you will need to see the emergency vet for IV bloodsugar and fluids, etc. Even then, we sometimes cannot save them and th

These pups will need to be given supplemental heat through a heating pad. They will also need to be bottle fed with a milk replacement supplement. Everything you need should be able available to you through most pet stores or big-box stores. Newborn puppies will require bottle feeding up to every 2-3 hours for the first week or so of their life if they make it. Sometimes, the mother will reject the puppies if she senses they are sick in some way as well. Also, important to note that some puppies just fail to thrive and it isn't the fault of the mother or the person who is trying to care for them. Give it your best shot and best of luck!

Yes you should be worried. The puppies need nutrition so you will need to bottle feed them if mom doesn't have any milk. She is a bit old to be having puppies - you should consider spaying her now. How lovely of you to take in this dog and her puppies! If they cry all the time, then they may not be getting the milk they need to survive and I would start caring for them yourself. You will need to get a puppy milk replacer such as KMR from a pet store or supermarket right away. I will put a link below on how to raise orphan puppies. My adult dog has been throwing up today and she has puppies, I was wondering if I should bottle feed the puppies or let the mama dog feed them? The puppies are almost 6 weeks old and I don't know what to do. I could really use some advice.
At almost six weeks old, the puppies should start weaning and you can leave them out a puppy mush. I would soak a high quality puppy formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with puppy formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry puppy food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until they are eating the dry puppy food only. As for the mother, I would be concerned that she could be vomiting due to a postpartum complication such as eclampsia or mastitis. It would be best for her to see a vet immediately to be safe.

Hello. Just keep a close eye on everyone. Even the weaker puppies will fight for a nipple. As long as the puppies seem warm & content, & you see the mother dog cleaning up after the puppies, all will be well. Usually the only time you will need to supplement a puppy is if the mother dog is sick, or she has an extremely large litter. If you do find the need to help with supplemental feedings, make sure you use a puppy nursing formula like Esbilac. Take care.
