My dog ate grapes 12 hours ago, no symptoms. When is he safe?

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 50 lbs

Hi my 50 pound dog ate 2 grapes about 12 hours ago and hasnt shown any symptoms. We were not able to induce vomiting. When can i be sure he’s out of the Woods? Thanks

This is a tricky one because the exact toxic dose for grapes or even the mechanism of action in dogs is unknown. Have him examined by your veterinarian. Baseline bloodwork should be done to assess kidney function. In a few days or a week, it should be rechecked. In the meantime, monitor for lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite or a change in thirst or urination. If Poncho develops any of these symptoms, have him seen by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER.
