How can I get my coonhound under control? Shes super aggressive towards us owners.

That's not good. I never recommend owners work with aggressive behavior on their own due to safety reasons. You need to get Gracie in with a professional behavioral expert. Check out this link below to find one in your area or ask your vet for a referral. https://m.iaabc.org

That's because aggression in dogs can be a very dangerous behavior to train, and it's best left to the professional so you don't get harmed. I would speak to your vet about a referral to a professional behavioral expert. This expert can work with you safely on Prince's aggression issues.

I strongly recommend you consult with a professional, in-home dog trainer. You need a trainer to come to your house and see the behavior and the interaction of everyone with Crowley. This is your best bet. Aggression problems need special care and it is not recommended that you try to correct this on your own. You may give him the wrong signals and make him worse. Especially with his breed you need to do this right from the start. You should also consider having him neutered as this often helps as well. Karley is definitely showing serious signs of aggression, and you are correct that it can escalate to her snapping or even biting someone, including you. Aggression is a very difficult and dangerous behavior to work with, and it is something that is best left to a professional behavioral expert. It would be best for you to speak to your vet about a referral to one as soon as possible. I never recommend trying to train this behavior on your own due to the risk of injury to yourself, while a behavioral expert will be prepared for that possibility and is trained to deal with it. The sooner you get her into training, the better for her and yourself. I would put in a call to your vet first thing in the morning.

Hi there! A dog I recently purchased from a shelter has shown aggressive behaviour ( attacking an unprovoked dog) any advice would be great!

Do not allow him off leash around other dogs when you are in public, and don't have other dogs come over to your home until the trainer feels it's safe. I hope this helps!

You need to get him into a professional behavior expert for training. Aggression is very serious, and Bodie could hurt you. Do not deal with this on your own, it's not safe. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. My advice is to get professional help sooner rather than later. This type of behavior is often due to anxiety. I would strongly recommend talking to your vet about anti-anxiety/ behavior modification medication which can make a huge difference! Once the medication is on board, the fear-threshold is lowered, and learning can occur. At that point, working with a reputable trainer in your area is a must. Best wishes to you and Cooper.

Fear aggression towards humans is a complex behavior issue, so it's really best to work with a professional who can help you in person if possible. Generally, treatment for this problem is based on teaching Maizy to associate good things with seeing people, to change her reaction to them over time. It can be hard to do this safely and effectively on your own, so I would recommend getting in touch with a veterinary behaviorist who can evaluate Maizy in person and help you get started on a training plan to work on this issue. I see that you're located in Crofton, MD - Dr. Marsha Reich is an excellent veterinary behaviorist in Silver Springs, which looks like it's only about 30 minutes from you. I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem with Brutus! Owner-directed aggression is a complex behavior problem that can be quite serious, especially in such a large dog. This is a more complicated issue than we can really address in this type of forum, so I would strongly recommend making an appointment with a veterinary behaviorist who can evaluate Brutus in person and help you put together a detailed treatment plan to work on the problem. This will likely include management recommendations, training exercises to work on, and possibly medication if the behaviorist feels that this would be helpful for him. In general, I can tell you that treatment for this problem normally involves identifying what situations tend to trigger the aggression (verbal corrections, collar grabs, and disturbing the dog while resting are all very common triggers), and either finding ways to avoid them, or working with Brutus to teach him to be more comfortable in these situations so that he doesn'
