Hello my cat has been throwing up for over a week now. Probably about 5 times in the house but I am sure many others outside (the other morning he was gagging so my mum quickly got him outside). I really think its the food, he absolutely hates it and will only eat it when he is starving . Its just this cheap stores own brand . My mum refuses to buy something more expensive/go to the vet as "Its normal for cats to throw up". Am I worrying too much? He doesnt throw up often at all.

No, it's not normal for cats to throw up. It's serious that Sylvester only eats when starving, and he could develop a fatty liver from this behavior. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment. You should tell your mother that you spoke to a vet who said he needs a different food since he won't eat this food, and he needs to see a vet for the vomiting.
