My betta has a fin hole and white fins. Is this a serious problem?

There is an evident hole on my betta's rear fin. Along with that I think it's fins are turning whitish. Is this a major problem?

This is likely a degree of fin rot. The first step in management is by maintaining pristine water quality via filtration and regular partial water changes. Use only conditioned water that is temperature matched to prevent stress or shock. Bettas do best in slow moving water between 78 F and 80 F. If possible turn down the filter flow to the lowest setting or redirect it against the side of the tank. You can use a broad spectrum antibiotic or all-in-one product to treat infection. Look in the aquarium section of the local pet store Follow label directions and remove the carbon filter insert during treatment if indicated..
