What treatments are there for an anemic bearded dragon with kidney failure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Bearded Dragon | Female | unspayed | 7 years old | 1.2 lbs

Anemic bearded dragon low blood count? Vet thinks it's kidney failure. Blood count was 7 and WBC was normal level. Is there anything I can do? Full bloodwork diagnosis will be done this Thursday. He thinks she will die sooner or later if she has kidney failure or cancer but not 100% sure. If she has Acute kidney failure are there treatments? Treatments for kidney failure? Would blood transfusion help if she's just anemic?

Thanks for reaching out about Trudy and sorry for your problem. A blood transfusion can help her condition, but agreed, if renal failure, prognosis is poor. For kidney concerns, an intra-osseous catheter and aggressive fluid therapy is the recommendation. Good luck.
