Hello. Those red spots are a clear indication of some significant inflammation going on. The issue is what is the cause. It may be allergy derived, or there could be some infection involved as well. You can spray the area with an over the counter spray containing hydrocortisone ( Wal Mart sells Pro Sense All Dogs Itch Spray with Hydrocortisone ). If this does not help, you should see Bama's veterinarian for further work-up. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Hello. This looks like a bacterial skin infection or a staph infection. This can have numerous underlying causes ranging from food allergies, contact allergies, seasonal environmental allergies, fleas, skin parasites (mange). Your veterinarian can examine him and discuss the most likely issues for your pet and treat both the infection and underlying cause. There are a variety of treatment options depending on all of the findings of the physical exam and skin scrape test. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
