My senior cat is breathing hard from her stomach. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 13 years and 9 months old | 6 lbs

Gabriella is about 13 and today I have noticed some labored breathing. She’s breathing hard from her stomach. Almost like she has a cold and hard to breath. As I continue to monitor this should I be more concerned? Or any suggestions? Thank you

Poor Gabriella! Labored breathing is always very concerning in a cat, and could be a life-threatening problem - so I would recommend taking her to an emergency clinic tonight to be seen. The veterinarian there can examine her and do blood work, x-rays, or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and see what kind of treatment is needed.
