My cat has ear infections. Is ear canal ablation the last resort?

Hello, what is the protocol steps before doing a ear canal ablation on a cat.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by protocol steps. Typically this surgery is a final option if a cat has had multiple problems with ear infections that are not clearing up or keep happening. It's a last step option because it leaves the animal deaf in that ear.
