Why is my new mom cat meowing, eating a lot, and having diarrhea?

My mom cat who had her kittens 6 weeks ago is meowing constantly ever since. She has a loose motion and highly increased appetite. Could it be bc of not being dewormed or unvaccinated

Yes, the diarrhea could be due to not being dewormed. Dingky can also be in heat again causing the constant meowing. You should have her seen by a ve tot get dewormed, vaccinated, and to discuss getting her spayed.

Even though Coco has been dewormed twice she could still have intestinal parasites like coccidia that would not be susceptible to standard dewormers. Other causes of diarrhea include infections or food sensitivities. I would recommend seeing a vet for a fecal analysis. If it is normal you can discuss diet changes that could help, like increasing fiber or trying a limited ingredient diet.

I would not be worried about anything at this stage based on your description. However, I recommend you speak to your vet about deworming for mom and the kittens. They can start deworming as early as 2 weeks of age. The diarrhea may be normal due to hormonal changes, could be diet related or it may be due to worms.

My kitten is only a couple months old. Her belly is huge. We got her two days ago like this. I’m worried it may be worms does it look too big or is it supposed to be this. She had a episode of diarrhea last night but it may be to the fact we changed
It is difficult to tell for sure but her belly definitely looks larger than normal. I would recommend a full vet check and fecal screen as there are many possible causes including worms, infections, bowel, kidney or heart diseases.

I would recommend putting Baby on a bland diet. I/D which is a prescription bland diet is a good choice. I would then give a dewormer to Baby. If this was already done I would talk to your veterinarian about antibiotics and steroids. Baby may have irritable bowel disease which is leading to the diarrhea. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

It is concerning that Lola has diarrhea, and it could be that it is intestinal worms causing the continuing problems. She could have tapeworms, and those require praziquantel to kill. If the deworming medication she got didn't have it, that could explain the issues with her stool. I'd have her checked out by a vet in the morning. I hope this helps.

Yes, she is probably coming into heat. I recommend spaying her soon or she will become pregnant if you let her out. Even if she’s indoors all the time, cats will go in and out of heat frequently and that can cause health issues so it’s best to get her spayed to prevent future problems. As far as the diarrhea and swollen belly goes, she may have intestinal parasites. You can bring a stool sample to your veterinarian and they can see what types of intestinal parasites she has and prescribe the correct dewormer for her. The most likely scenario is that she has intestinal parasites/worms. Very common in kittens even if they have already had a dose of deworming. I do not think it’s from the food. I suggest you get both kittens to your veterinarian for a exam and a fecal test.

It's possible everyone has parasites and needs to be dewormed, or there is something causing GI upset such as an ingredient in the food, GI illness, etc. Since everyone is affected, it would be best to bring mom and kittens to your vet along with a stool sample to be tested for common issues such as parasites. As kittens can quickly become dehydrated, having them examined and finding the cause ASAP is a good idea.

Have you changed any of her food ? If so, it could just be the diet change as her tummy is still quite delicate and immature and it can take time and a few tummy upsets to get used to all the food ingredients. If no food has been changed, then I wonder if Pompom has been treated for worms. All kittens need to be treated for worms regularly, using a safe product dosed for her weight. You will have to take her to see a vet to get the right product for her. With regards to her food, just remember to change her diet gradually.

hi there my new kitten has been having diarrhea for 2 days now but she is eating fine and she hasn't been flea or wormed treated or any vacations what should i do to treat it.
I would recommend you take Snow in to your veterinarian for an exam. She likely needs to have her stool checked for intestinal parasites so she can be given the appropriate de-worming medication, as many kittens are born with intestinal parasites. I would also be concerned about potential other causes of diarrhea, such as bacterial overgrowth or viral infections. She also needs to get started on her kitten vaccines and may need medication for the diarrhea and/or a diet change.
