My dog just ate a Bayer aspirin. Is it harmful or will she be okay?

She did eat a higher dose than recommended (10mg per pound of body weight at the highest, so 60mg) but after 1 hour, the aspirin has already been absorbed by her system . Of course, you can take her to the vet now if you are very worried. After examining her they could probably council you better. If you choose to just monitor her, watch her closely for any signs of illness and if you notice anything abnormal get her to a vet immediately. This is a large overdose of aspirin (four times the high end of the dose), and for such as young puppy this is extremely concerning. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! A 250mg tablet is over 5mg/kg which is close to the gastro-intestinal signs and ulceration. It is probably too late to induce vomiting but that would have been ideal to do right after she ate. It is best to have her seen by your Vet to start gastro-intestinal protectants like omeprazole, sucralfate and misoprostal to protect her GI tract from ulceration just to be safe. It can cause irritation or ulcers in some cases. This could be the cause of her lethargy today. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian as soon as possible to have her evaluated. I definitely would not give Sawyer aspirin. Aspirin at certain dosages are toxic to dogs and it can also upset the stomach more then what his stomach is now. The vomit looks like foam and possibly food. It is hard to say definitively without actually being there to look at the vomit. If we still have no appetite and vomiting I recommend going to a veterinarian. Here they can make sure there is no obstruction, no pancreatitis, provide fluid support and give medication that can stop the vomiting and make Sawyer feel much better. Your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian. Unfortunately, I think aspirin is not going to help your dog at this time and since aspirin can cause coagulation problems it may actually make her bleed more. She may have a uterine or vaginal infection, especially since she is not eating.
