My dog has cancer. Could it be causing her eye to swell, bleed, leak?

I have asked this question but My dogs eye seems flipped and it’s leaking, bleeding, and swollen. What’s the best thing to do in this situation? She has eye drops but those don’t seem to be working” but forgot to mention that we went to the vet and they diagnosed her with cancer I’m very concerned that this could be an effect of that. Is there any way that her cancer can cause her eye to be this swollen? (She also has Decameron NaP04 and Tobramycin Solution, but those don’t seem to be working)

Poor Skyler. Given that the eye drops don't appear to be working, you do need to take her back into the vet. This looks pretty bad. I'm sorry she has cancer. Depending on what type of cancer she has, it could be possible it's affecting her eye. I'd take her back into a vet today.

It looks like Skylar's third eyelid is elevated and irritated, and there is significant swelling of her eyelids. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as possible. She could have an infection of her eye or a scratch on the surface, or even a puncture of the eye if there is a large amount of watery fluid.

Oh poor pup! In a senior dog, there is always a chance any growth could be malignant. The only way to tell is have her seen by a vet, as that growth looks nasty. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. Take her into the vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.

I strongly recommend you seek referral to a specialist ophthalmologist, it looks like there may be increased pressure or glaucoma which is very painful. It may be rarely associated with tumors but there are many other possible causes

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! One of the most common causes of an elevated calcium is cancer, more specifically lymphoma and anal sac adenocarcinoma, among others. Other possible non-cancerous diseases that can cause it include hyperparathyroidism and fungal disease. I would encourage you to discuss further diagnostics to find out more about what si going on. This may include abdominal ultrasound, FNA cytology, among others. Treatment depends on findings. Best of luck!

The tumour could be having an effect, however it could be completely unrelated. It sounds a lot like conjunctivitis which can be easily treated by your vet. I would get Bella in for an exam asap as you dont want to leave an eye condition as it may be more serious.

I would highly recommend taking her to a vet as soon as possible. Bleeding in the eye can be due to local trauma to the eye but also can be connected to underlying disease like toxin (rat poison), bleeding disorders, cancer, high blood pressure or infectious disease. I would be very concerned in an older dog with enlarged spleen that the blood in eye is related to this. I would recommend x-rays of the body and blood work to look at organ function and platelet count. Also, taking sassy to an ophthalmologist would be in her best interest

It's impossible to tell you what is going on with Daisy, but the most common cause of a dog squinting and rubbing their eye is a corneal ulceration. Corneal ulcers are often relatively easy to heal, but become worse the longer it is before they are treated, so I would recommend having Daisy evaluated by your vet ASAP. Based on the picture it does look like there could be blood inside his eye, which is called hyphema. It likely means there is inflammation present within the eye, which could be related to the original injury. If he has vision problems in that eye or its painful (squinting, tearing, or pawing at it), I would definitely take him back to the vet. They will likely want to check the pressure within the eye and look at his retina. He may need drops to help with the inflammation.

That is a big mass. If there is a surgeon who is willing to debulk the tumor, this could bring him some relief. You could then have the tissue sent in for analysis. You would likely get a diagnosis from a larger sample. Unfortunately, it's impossible to know if this is cancerous or a cyst just by looks. A tissue sample must be analyzed to get the correct diagnosis. An x-ray of his skull may also show bone involvement which would indicate cancer. Chest x-rays would also be a good idea to look for metastatic tumors. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hello, Soffie has hair loss around her eye but I cannot visualize the eye itself. The hair loss may be secondary to mites. In order to find out. Soffie needs to have her skin scraped and her eye examined. You will need to follow up with a veterinarian to have this performed. Please apply an E-collar to prevent her from scratching more.
