My dog's mouth is inflamed and scabbing. What should I do tonight?

Pet's info: Dog | Silky Terrier | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

My dog has been scratching his mouth for a few days now. Finally I noticed yesterday that he has scabbing by his lips. Today the area got worse and is inflamed. He is constantly scratching the area and then licking his paws because of the distinct smell from the area. My vet does not open until the morning and I am very nervous to leave him like this overnight what could this be

Thank you for contacting PetCoach with your question about Louis. It looks like he could have a skin infection, but without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. You can try putting an Ecollar on him tonight to keep him from rubbing at his mouth. You can make one at home, and I will put a link below on how to make one.
