My cat has diarrhea and a bald spot on her ear. When to see vet?

My cat has had diarrhea yesterday and today, and I just noticed a little bald patch on her ear. I’m emailing her vet as well but I’m just wondering if this requires more immediate action. Thank you!

I see the little bald patch, and I wouldn't get too worried about it. Monitor it for now, and have it checked out by a vet if it gets bigger or starts to bother Joni. She should see a vet for the diarrhea since it's been going on for longer than 24 hours.

I'm sorry Mrs. B has had diarrhea! This diarrhea can be caused by eating something rotten, a foreign body, GI illness, or intestinal worms. Make sure she is up to date on her deworming treatments. I would take Mrs. B into the vet today for an exam. When a cat has diarrhea for more than 24 hours, it's time to see the vet. The vet can diagnose what is causing her diarrhea, and can treat her for it. While at the vet, they can examine her for the cause of the patchy hair loss, which can be due to fleas, mites, ringworm, allergies, or an autoimmune disease. Once the cause of that is found, the vet can prescribe her treatment for it.

I think this looks like a scrape or potentially the beginning of a skin infection. I can't think of a link between diarrhea and a skin lesion like this. If this spot gets larger or you notice more skin lesions I'd recommend rechecking with your vet. If it is a scratch it should resolve without treatment in a week or two.

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. This bump on the ear is very round and discrete which lends itself more to being an allergic reaction, a cyst, an abscess or some type of tumor. It does not look like trauma especially if there is more than one of these bumps. The diarrhea could be related if the lump(s) are related to an allergic reaction. Any time a cat has a lump on them it is best to have them examined by a vet. If it is not bothering her you can wait a day or two to see if it resolves on it's own but if it doesn't then she needs to see a vet. It could be Jumi just injured himself leading the bald spot, but it doesn't appear red, swollen, or any other signs of infection. Just keep an eye on it for now, and if it gets bigger, the fur doesn't grow back, it starts to appear infected, and/or it starts to bother him, I would have him checked out by a vet. Hello. This is definitely a very irritated ear, but your veterinarian really needs to see what is going on in the ear canal to make an actual diagnosis. The vomiting should be unrelated to what is going on in the ear, but Cafe could have more than one issue at a time. With having an ear this possibly infected, & vomiting, you really need to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Without knowing exactly what is medically going on with the ear & why she is vomiting, there really is not much you can do for her at home. I do hope you can have her seen soon. I have a cat that is 13 yrs old she has developed diarrhea and has been having accidents since Friday
The diarrhea could be caused by a number of things, parasites, infection, even being constipated will sometimes show as diarrhea initially because liquid is all that can get by the hardened fecal material. If she is eating and drinking, that's good, since cats need to eat or they will develop liver problems in a matter of days. I would get her seen by your vet as soon as possible, especially if her appetite is down, if she is lethargic, her behavior has changed, any other adverse symptoms accompanying the diarrhea. Your vet will do an exam, some lab work and based on these results will be better able tot ell you what is wrong and how best to treat it.

I don't think I would be overly concerned about this at this time. I suggest you monitor that area for now. You can apply a topical antibiotic ointment/cream if you'd like twice a day. If it doesn't get better after 10 days or so you should have your vet check her out.

Hi, my cat has had, excuse the grossness, explosive diarrhea for the past few days. I don't think she's gotten into anything or eaten anything bad. She's been acting like her normal self but I'm extremely concerned.
Diarrhea is a common problem with cats and is usually self-limiting (will go away on its own). Usually it's not serious, but it's always possible that it could be the start of something serious. If she has any of the following, then she should see a vet: 1) Blood in diarrhea 2) Very watery diarrhea 3) Starts acting very depressed 4) Stops eating or drinking for longer than 24 hours. 5) Diarrhea lasts longer than three days. You can help her get through this by feeding bland food (i.e. boneless cooked chicken). Feed small portions (1/4 cup or less) at meal time. You can also add probiotics to the food (can get this at the pet store), which has demonstrated some efficacy for improving diarrhea. Ensure fresh, clean water is always available. Yes, he may have ear mites or ear canal infection. Cats with ear mites or ear infection usually scratch the ears a lot and they get the bald patches as a result of scratching. The ears should be examined by a vet and then decided what treatment Maru needs. Usually, the treatment is in form of ear drops, that are effective against all type of infections and against mites at the same time.

This could be an area of a bacterial infection, fungal infection or I have even seen trauma such as from outdoor cat bite wounds cause this. This wound needs to be kept clean and dry and if it is getting worse it will require medication from your veterinarian to heal. Do not allow your kitten to paw or rub at the site as well as keep her indoors and monitor this for any change in size, redness, Increase in discharge as well as pain. If you notice any of those signs your cat needs to be checked out by your veterinarian.
