My male cat was neutered, but why is he still peeing everywhere?

I got my male cat neutured a month a ago. He stopped peeing for awhile and then after 5-6 days he has started to pee again every where. Why is this happening despite him being neutured.

If Max was doing this behavior behavior before getting neutered, he still may do it afterwards. Neutering can reduce the behavior, even eliminate it, but not in every case. It could also be he has a medical illness such as feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones. Have him seen by a vet for this.

This is a frustrating issue and the number one cause for pets being rehomed. Neutering will help, but it likely will not be a cure all for this issue. First, have the little guy seen by your veterinarian to rule out urinary tract infection, inflammation or other medical issues that could be causing his frequent urinating or marking. Next, clean the boxes daily and try different types, amounts and brands of litter. He may have a substrate preference. Restrict or prevent access to areas where he is urinating. Use an enzymatic cleaner, such as Nature's Miracle ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/natures-miracle-new-formula-just-for-cats-urine-destroyer-stain-and-residue-eliminator ), to thoroughly clean soiled areas. Provide additional litterboxes if necessary. The rule of thumb is one box per cat plus an additional box in a "neutral" area. Try both covered and uncovered boxes. My 10 months old British shorthair do not have a neutering surgery, and I don’t want him to get neutered, but he started to pee somewhere other than his own toilet. What should I do to avoid him peeing everywhere? Or will this situation become better
The first thing you should do is get him seen by your vet to determine if a urinary tract infection is what is causing him to urinate inappropriately. If he is healthy, your vet may be able to give you some tips on redirecting his behavior. Also put out another litter box in another location in case there is something around the original box that is repelling him for some reason, too noisy, too much activity, another cat guarding it, something frightened him. Make sure the litter box is kept clean, scooping multiple time a day if needed. Some cats become more picky and fastidious about their litter box as they age. The general rule of thumb is one litter box per cat plus one, that way no one cat can claim the litter box as territory. And frankly, if you aren't planning to breed him, he will be happier, healthier and live longer if he is neutered.

Well, it can take about 60 days for the hormones to leave his system after neutering, so some may still be hormonal. However, cat’s will often have inappropriate urination if they are stressed about other things or if they are painful or otherwise upset. If the marking doesn’t improve in the next month then I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon to discuss options. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. My male cat storm is peeing everywhere around the house. He does use litter box also. I clean the litter box 2 times a day minimum. Can you please tell me what is wrong and how can it be stopped.
I see Storm isn't neutered. Male intact cats often mark their territory with their urine, and that may be what he is doing. It could also be he has feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones. I'd have him seen by a vet to get checked out for those two medical illness and to discuss having him neutered.

Will getting my cat neutered stop him from urinating on the furniture and floors?
It certainly might. Urine marking is a normal and expected behavior for intact males, so neutering is one of the first things we recommend if your cat is doing this. The earlier it's done, the better - this is because the longer this behavior continues, the more it will become a habit that may not resolve after the neuter. It's important to realize that urine marking can also be related to stress or anxiety, so if this is the case, these issues would also need to be addressed in order to resolve the behavior.

My cat Oliver is neutered but he still pees all over the house an it's not a bladder infection its something in his head is there something we can do?
The medical reasons a cat will urinate outside the box include a bladder infection, bladder stones, a mass in the bladder, urine crystals and idiopathic cystitis. All of these conditions are painful and this causes the cat to not use the litter box. Most of these cats will need a urinanalysis, urine culture and ultrasound of the bladder to rule out all causes. Check with your veterinarian what additional diagnostics need to be done. Also make sure you are cleaning the litter box every day. Cats can have pretty specific desires for a litter box. If you have questions about these, please post again. Some cats will have behavioral issues and most of them respond to kitty Prozac. This is generally a life long medication. It comes in tablets or can be compounded to a liquid for most pets. Sometimes a special diet can also help. I recommend a diet made by Royal Canin called Urinary + Calm. Hello, last weekend we had a house warming party, and the door to the room where the litter box is, was accidentally closed by one of our guests. We found later, that our two year old cat peed on our bed. He's never done it before. This morning again
Sometimes, cats will return to the same location where they have had an accident previously and continue to urinate there - this is often because there is still some lingering odor that they can smell, which acts as a signpost saying "pee here!" He may also have learned that the bed was a pleasant place to use the bathroom, so in his mind it's a convenient option when he needs to go. I would recommend closing the door to your bedroom to block his access to the bed for the next month or so - this should be long enough to break the newly-formed habit of urinating on the bed. You should also make sure that all of the bedding has been washed, and the mattress has been treated with a deodorizing product that is made for getting rid of urine odors, such as Nature's Miracle or Urine Off. This could be due to a medical illness such as a UTI or bladder stones. I would have your cat seen by a vet today or tomorrow for a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis. Using these tests, the vet can diagnose if he does have a UTI or bladder stones and can treat him for it.

There may be a medical issue causes this. I work start with getting a urine sample checked by your vet to see if there is an infection causing this. If all medical test are normal then you can look into behavior problems and get things such as feliway and try a new type of litter box or litter. You may need to adjust his diet or add anxiety medication from your vet to clear it.

I do not see any bladder stones on this X-ray either, so that is likely not the problem. I think neutering your cat would definitely be helpful but it may not fully fix the problem. Your cat likely has Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. With this disease cats have all the symptoms of a urinary tract infection (peeing outside the box, peeing frequently, blood in urine) but no infection is present. The bladder wall becomes irritated and inflamed and it is very uncomfortable for the cat. Stress and nutrition play large roles in triggering this disease. If a urinary tract infection has been ruled out by a urinalysis and culture then FIC is most likely. I would recommend neutering Gordon, adding extra litter boxes to the home, consider switching him to a urinary health diet (like Hill’s c/d multicare or Royal Canin Urinary Calm) and discussing with your vet putting your cat on an anxiety medication.
