Dog throwing up clear liquid and tired. When should I worry?

Dog is throwing up saliva. She's been showing this symptom for about 24hrs. She's just tired and anxious.

Poor Kisses. I'm worried about her, and the fact that she has been throwing up for 24 hours now is concerning. She needs to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

    I'm sorry Magic is so sick. Given that she has been throwing up for over 24 hours, I do not think this can wait until the morning. She sounds very sick, and she needs to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

Vomiting is a very vague sign and could indicates several different things going on. Some of the more common causes of vomiting include intestinal parasites, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach wall), pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, or a foreign body/blockage. I would also worry about Parvo if Silap hasn't been fully vaccinated. Withhold any food for now but you can offer him small amounts of water as long as he is able to keep it down. I would recommend taking him to the vet. He may be dehydrated and need fluids as well as some antinausea medication to help stop the vomiting.

If Sadie has been vomiting for longer than 24 hours, I would recommend that she see an emergency veterinarian. Common causes of vomiting in young dogs include dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, among others. Considering that she is a young dog and a breed that is commonly found chewing on things they shouldn't, I would be very concerned about a complete or partial intestinal blockage. I would not wait until the 9th for evaluation. The vet may recommend diagnostics like abdominal x-rays, ultrasound, or bloodwork to determine the most appropriate treatment.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Honey! Be sure that you know if she is vomiting (belly goes in and out) versus regurgitation (burps up fluid) versus a cough with a terminal retch (cough is first followed by a gag of fluid). I don't know how old Honey is but she only weighs 5 lbs and that means if she is truly vomiting then she could get dehydrated quickly. If the vomiting is non-stop she should be taken to your Vet if open or an emergency hospital. If it has been a couple of times remove all water and food. Do not offer water for 4-6 hours of no vomiting and offer small amounts and ice chips. Do not offer food until 12-24 hours of no vomiting and offer it as a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day as small frequent meals. If she continues to vomit while fasted or once she starts eating she needs to see a Vet. It's good that you've already made an appointment as she should be checked out. I would continue to monitor and if she can't keep anything at all down for more than 24 hours, stops eating or drinking, or begins to show other signs of illness such as lethargy, pain, refusal to eat, etc, seeking emergency care sooner is best.

Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check her hydration status and give her medications to make her feel better. Good luck!

No, the questions aren’t linked. I will usually be okay with an upset tummy for 24 hours, so if it’s been longer than that, Quintana should probably see the vet. The green means that her stomach is empty and she is starting to pull fluid from the upper small intestine (where bile enters). The vet may recommend a Parvo test, bloodwork, or x-rays to see what is causing her sickness, and can make an appropriate treatment plan when they have a better idea of the cause of her vomiting.

My 10 week old Labrador puppy threw up clear liquid twice two nights ago and has just done it again. She got her second injection yesterday from the vet but I didn't mention the sick as I thought it was a one off. Is this something to worry about?
The clear liquid vomit in puppies is not too concerning to me at this rate. This indicates that the puppy may have some mild stomach irritation or is drinking water too fast. If it continues to happen once every other day, then I wouldn't be too worried. This should pass in a week or two. If it's multiple times a day, or is continually happening every other day for multiple weeks, then I'd be a little more concerned and would advise a visit to the vet. I hope that helps and Daisy gets better soon.
