My dog has a hard lump on his leg, but it doesn't seem to bother him.

Hi I just noticed a mass on my 3 yr old Lab/mix. I’m planning on taking him in for a check up and vaccinations but I want to be prepared when I go in to see what this may be. It’s on his upper leg by his pad and is the size of the end of a pencil eraser. It’s hard when I feel it but it doesn’t seem to bother him or make him limp or anything.

Hello. This is probably benign, but only after an examination & possibly a look at the type of cells in the lesion, can we be sure of the cause. Duncan is young, so I would not be too worried. The biggest concern would be if it got larger or he began chewing on it. Dogs get lots of lumps & bumps that are not cancerous, but it is always best to point them out to your vet.
