Dog cut paw in woods, bleeding. When is a vet visit truly needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 3 months old | 45 lbs

My Dog cut her foot out in the woods today. She continued to run around in the woods for at least an hour after the injury and it didn't stop bleeding until she finally got off of her feet. I rinsed the foot in peroxide. She seems like she's is feeling bad but is sleeping ok...how do I know when it's time to go to the vet. I don't have much money and would like to avoid a vet Bill if possible. Thank you.

Poor LaVerne. Given that it bled for a bit, and she cut it in the woods, she needs to see a vet. The reason for that is it will be very contaminated from the woods, and it has to be cleaned out properly. Plus she will need pain medications and antibiotics, both of which are prescription only.
