Why is my kitten having bloody diarrhea and not using the litter box?

Our 4 month old kitten has experienced diarrhea twice this week. He hasn’t made it to the litter box and the second time I noticed some blood. Other than that his activity level is fine. He’s eating and drinking as well. Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 months and 30 days old | 4.5 lbs
