My dog killed my cat. Is his aggression towards other animals fixable?

Doggy killed my cat :( why he is aggresive to cats and others animals. What should i do to stop that aggresion?

Oh this is horrible. I'm sorry, you will not like this answer, but a dog who deliberately kills other animals is not safe and needs to be put to sleep. If Doggy can do this to a cat, imagine what he could do to an adult or even a baby. He is a dangerous animal, and I strongly urge you to take him into a vet now to discuss putting him to sleep. I'm sorry.

My answer may not be one you like, but it may be putting her to sleep is best for you and her. She sounds very aggressive, and it's quite serious she has killed two dogs. If she can do this to dogs, she could potentially serious hurt a child or adult as well. You cannot take this risk. I know what a hard decision this can be, I had to make it myself. I had a wonderful dog named Toby, but as he got older, he started to act possessive of his bed and things. He started to act aggressive, and the one day, he bit my son in the face, just missing his eye. I couldn't take that risk any more, so I put him to sleep the same day. We want to get another pet but our dog kills everything and when we brought a new pet home, a kitten, she was fine for a little but then she killed the cat. Is there anyway to make her not kill animals?
It sounds like Cece has serious aggression issues, and I would not recommend bringing another animal into the house if she killed your last cat. She will need professional behavioral training if there is to be any hope for having another animal in those, and I highly recommend hiring a behavioral expert to work with her. You can ask your vet for a recommendation, but please keep in mind that aggression is a very difficult behavior to work with, and even training may not be successful. I would not bring another animal into the house unless the behavioral expert says it is ok to do so. Otherwise, you may have to accept you cannot have other animals around Cece.

Wow, this is very tough. Unprovoked aggression is very serious, especially since it was so bad that Ryder died. The big problem here is that you don't know what caused it, and that means this could happen again any time without warning. I'm very concerned about your baby, and what if he went after your newborn? Things like that have happened before, and you have to ask yourself do you trust him anymore? Would you trust him around your newborn? Could you live with yourself if he attacked your newborn? If you cannot answer yes to these questions, then honestly euthanizing is the best option. This is potentially a very dangerous situation for your cat, so I would definitely recommend making an appointment with a veterinary behaviorist if you want to keep both pets - he/she can evaluate your dog in person to help determine the level of risk involved, and will put together a detailed training plan to work on the problem. Generally, treatment for this problem would involve rewarding the dog for calm behavior around the cat, while also managing the situation carefully to ensure that there are no injuries - this may mean that the dog needs to be on-leash at all times around the cat, or they should be separated using a baby gate or some other physical barrier during training sessions until things are calmer. You should not have her put to sleep just because she attacked your cat, don't forget this is a natural behaviour and death punishment is really not a logical thing to do. I would recommend contacting the RSPCA they will take her and rehome her.

That is a difficult situation for you to be in at the moment. Regardless if they made a sudden move towards you, it's not ok for your dog to bite other people unless you are truly in danger. They likely want you to put him to sleep because he is aggressive. I would say based on your description of the situation that he is an aggressive dog, and I would recommend getting him into see a professional behavior expert as soon as possible. Aggression is something that needs to be controlled, and because it is a dangerous behavior in dogs, it's best left to the professionals. I would speak to your vet first thing tomorrow about a referral to a professional behavioral expert.

As a dog trainer, I have a different view from previous answer given. Pit Bull types are terriers which means they have a high prey drive. The cat was possibly viewed as prey and I am very sorry to hear of your loss. For your other dog, due to the size it is possible your Pit may react the same at some point. I don't think leaving them unsupervised together is a good idea as I'm not sure what the actual trigger was in the attack of your cat. In terms of rehoming, you would need to find a very suitable home and with no small children. Because your dog mauled a cat does not automatically mean he will be aggressive toward people, but sometimes dogs are reactive toward small children, especially babies and toddlers who don't know the boundaries of a dog. I never leave my own child and dog unsupervised and my dog loves my son. I would recommend hiring a canine behaviorist and getting a behavioral assessment from them. Best of luck.

Hi there. I'm sorry to tell you this but Huskies are notorious for killing cats. It is unfortunately in their nature to chase and kill things that run from them....... This is going to be VERY difficult. If Villian did not run from him there may be a chance of getting some resolution but if Villain is scared (which is understandable) and he runs, the higher the chance your dog will eventually catch and kill him. I'm not trying to freak you out but I want you to be realistic. They are not a breed known to be good with cats or even small dogs. Of course there are some that are fine but if you have to play the odds.......most are not. That being said I feel like your only real shot is to have a dog trainer come to your house, assess the situation with all the family members and pets and then hopefully they can help you try to modify your dog's behavior and response to the cat. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! If you want to keep Izzy then you need to invest in a Veterinary Behaviorist or pay for intense training for you and the dog. You have many years together and she is way too big to be this aggressive. Killing dogs is a lead in to biting children and people. If you do not take the reigns and try to control her then I agree with your Vet. You can't live your life isolated due to your dogs aggressive behavior. I wish you the best!

I am sorry to hear of your loss, some dogs will never acclimatise to cats and will act as a predator -prey species regardless of age or infirmity. I would not recommend another cat or kitten as he is likely to attempt to attack again.
