My dog often eats grass. At least once a week I need to hurry and let him outside, because he seems like he might vomit. It is not uncommon to find grass wrapped up in his stools. I feed him a good quality dog food. He seems to think or know he needs the grass to settle his stomach. My question is why, and secondly during winters in Minnesota he is at a loss, so is there something I can supply him to settle his stomach

I recommend to speak with your vet and have Buddy examined to figure out why his stomach is unsettled. Sometimes this is related to acid build up and could be remedied with medication and switching meal times. Sometimes a diet change is indicated. It's always worthwhile to make sure older pets are up t date on blood work and parasite testing to rule out internal disease. Better to play it safe. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
