Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 8 months old | 8 lbs
My 2-year-old cat, Julius, has been refusing to leave the living room for the past two weeks, acting as if he's afraid of the rest of the house. It started when I left for 4 days to visit family. My partner was with him, but I think he still may have been stressed. He's still eating, drinking, and playing. I've refrained from taking him to the vet because I know that's stressful for him, and hoping he'd get back to normal with some reassurance, but so far that's not the case. Any advice?

That is strange. It's good that Julius is eating and drinking. I'd get a couple of Feliway diffusers to set up around the house. They release calming pheromones when plugged in. Pair it with a Sentry calming collar. This also releases calming pheromones when in contact with his skin. See if these help him get out of the living room. If this doesn't help, then a vet visit is recommended.
