My cat is in heat, but her spay is tomorrow. Should I reschedule?

Hi my cat is getting spayed tomorrow but she is in heat right now. Should i be rescheduling the appointment?

You may have to reschedule. There are vets who will spay a cat in heat, but keep in mind it is a more complicated surgery due to the increased blood flow to the uterus, and there is typically an increased cost for it. Cal your vet in the morning to let them know she is in heat, and they can let you know if they want to proceed or not.

Yes, I recommend to call you vet and discuss having her spayed. The veterinarian may try to get her scheduled in between cycles but cats tend to come into heat so this may be difficult. That is a short heat cycle interval, but cats can cycle frequently during this time of year. Yes, it is possible to spay Haro while in heat, but it can be a little more complicated a surgery due to the increased blood flow to the uterus. Due to this, the vet will charge extra, but it can be done.

Can I spay Jasmine when she is in heat??
Cats will repeatedly go in and out of heat all spring/summer, so we commonly spay cats while they are in heat. I would be sure to discuss it with your veterinarian since they may require some extra time in surgery (and may therefore have a higher cost for it). Lucy is going to have spaying surgery tomorrow.she is not in heatbut I believe it is near her heat.maybe 1 or 2 days till her heat.is it going to be dangerous for her surgery if it's near her heat?
No, it's not dangerous for her to be spayed at this point in time. I have personally spayed cats who are in heat or approaching heat, and they have been just fine. There can be increased blood flow to the uterus if she is approaching her heat, but the vet will take precautions during surgery to prevent any problems. In addition, it's very difficult to predict exactly when a cat is going into heat next, so it may be Lucy isn't close to going into heat at this time. Any surgery does carry risks, even spaying when a cat isn't in heat, but your vet is aware of those risks and will do everything possible to minimize them. Kit has gone on heat & from the research I've done it says it's best not to get her spayed in the middle of a cycle. She is going nuts though. What do I do?
While you can spay in the middle of a heat, it is a more complicated surgery due to increased blood flow to the uterus. A cat's heat lasts 1-2 weeks, so I would make an appointment to get her spayed after another week. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do but keep her indoors to keep her from getting pregnant. Try playing with her more to give her more exercise and hopefully tire her out.

Unfortunately there is nothing specific to do to comfort her - she will show behavior changes until she is out of heat, and cats will cycle in and out of heat until they are bred. You could try something like a Feliway diffuser or other pheromone spray that might help her relax. Otherwise you should go ahead and try to schedule the spay surgery - ask your vet when they would feel most comfortable proceeding with surgery since she is currently in heat. Keep in mind that since hormones can persist for a period of time after surgery she may still show symptoms of a heat cycle for awhile.

With cats it doesn't matter, you can have a female cat spayed at any time, even when she is in heat. during the heat cycle and right after the uterus is more fragile but in cats it has very little significance (compare to dogs that cannot be spayed at that time). having say that, it will probably not be a good idea to argue with your vet on the subject so you can either wait a couple weeks or go to a different vet.

Ok, the question got confusing at the end so I'm sorry if I don't fully answer you. The answer is no, she cannot be pregnant and in heat at the same time. It is impossible. I suggest you have her spayed. It is a bit more risky of a surgery to spay them while pregnant or in-heat but I have done it thousands of times with no issues. If you are planning on spaying her, then I suggest you do so now.
