Why is my dog restless, whining, confused, and gassy after eating?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | 4 years and 8 months old | 80 lbs

My dog is whinning restless and letting out really smelly farts think its something he ate like imitation crab meat. Hes craving atention real bad looks confused.

It could be Drakue has some stomach upset causing the gas, restlessness, and attention seeking. I'd keep an eye on him tonight and if he's still acting this way in the morning, have him seen by a vet.

Toxin exposure, severe abdominal pain, or perhaps a severe anal gland infection could all cause this type of restlessness and discomfort. Sewage can carry toxins. I would continue to keep a close eye on Dasher. Make sure he has plenty of fresh water to drink. You can take his rectal temperature - normal is 100-102.5. If he has a fever or elevated temperature and is still acting abnormally, you may want to take him to an emergency veterinarian. If his temperature is normal, I would watch him for 24 hours. If he is still exhibiting signs of stress (acting strange, passing a lot of gas, varying appetite) tomorrow, or starts vomiting or having diarrhea, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian.

Zeus has not slept all night. He's been winning, yelping, paisting, he wont hold still for no longer than 5 minutes. I dont know what's going on with him, yesterday around 10:00pm he got into some spicy ribs, but he hasnt had any diarrhea or vomiting
Something is definitely wrong but I really can't tell you what it is because his symptoms are too vague. Any illness can cause this behavior. I think it is best if you have him checked out in person by a vet.

Other gastrointestinal signs like vomiting or diarrhoea are expected and more signs may show up. I would monitor him closely for the next 24hours and if you notice any sign or if the ones she is showing now are persisting, a check up would be required.

It does sound like your dog could be in pain, and that could be causing the restlessness at night. He simply can't find a position that he is comfortable in, and it hurts to curl up. He could have an injury to his neck, spine, hips, or limbs. I would take him into the vet today for an exam. He may also benefit from pain medications if he is in pain. Do not give him any human pain medications, many are toxic to dogs and fatal if given. The vet can prescribe him safe pain medications if needed.

Hello, I am so sorry for your concerns about Abu. Gas distension in the gut can be very uncomfortable at the least, & sometimes very painful. If you have some simethicone ( Gas-X ), you can give him about 50mg, & then no food for a minimum of 6-12 hours. Water is OK. The Simethicone can be repeated in 6 hours if necessary. Watch for any progression of signs, such as retching/vomiting, or noticeable abdominal bloating. Your pup may also be getting ready to develop diarrhea. If any of these develop, or he just does not seem to be improving, please see your veterinarian as soon as you can. I hope all is well soon. Take care.

I would get him checked by your vet as soon as possible since he seems painful. It is odd that he ate well but his abdomen seems painful, but he could be at the beginning of an infection, he may have eaten something he shouldn't have that is causing the pain, there are a number of possibilities, especially since he is so young. Your vet will do an exam and possibly x-rays and/or labwork to try to determine the cause of his discomfort. Based on these results your vet will be better able to tell you what is going on and how best to treat it.

Poor baby. I'd recommend checking him all over for anything that hurts, or looks funny. In addition, if you know anyone that does analysis gland expressions, full analysis glands can make a pet act very anxious. They have to be trained to know how to do it, so most likely you will need to contact your veterinarian in the morning. You could also contact your local pet ER and have him seen tonight if he is acting that off.

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Gastric upset, or gastroenteritis, can be caused by many different things including toxins, raw meat, bones, bacterial infections, viral infections, or simply a food that doesn't agree with the body. Other possible causes include IBD, food allergies, and cancers in the gut. If she has a bit of diarrhea and GI upset, but is otherwise normal, eating/drinking well, and has good energy, then she likely just ate something that upset her stomach. I recommend that you feed her a bland diet of boiled/boneless/skinless chicken breast and boiled rice, in small frequent meals for the next 3 days. After this re-introduce a good quality kibble. If the diarrhea gets bloody, she stops eating, is vomiting, or weak and lethargic, then bring her to the vet for bloodwork and x-rays. Best of luck with Daisy! I hope she feels better soon!

Hello, sorry to hear about Draco. It sounds like he may be having mild sings of an upset stomach. You can continue to monitor him for any vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence, or lethargy. If you note any of these, then he should be evaluated by a veterinarian. Otherwise, you can feed him a bland diet of plain white rice, skinless, and boneless boiled chicken, and low fat cottage cheese. If he has any other signs including panting, persistent vomiting, or retching and if his stomach becomes severely distended very fast, then he should be seen on emergency basis by a veterinarian.
