My cat is sprinting, hissing, eating grass. Is she sick or in pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 4 lbs

I have a 2 1/2 year old female cat that is up to date on all her shots. for the last 2 days she will out of the blue sprint a little & hiss a lot. she's allowed outside but tends to stay inside alot when I'm home because a neighboring cat fights her. I catch her wanting to chew on my house plants so continually grow sweet grass for her & noticed that she's been wanting to eat it alot lately. Is this sprinting & hissing because she's in pain & maybe has a blockage?

It could be that Noelle is sick and/or in pain causing this behavior. Cats can act aggressively when they feel unwell. If she had something like a blockage, you'd see other signs like vomiting, lethargy, and a loss of appetite. I'd have her seen by a vet for a health check.
