My dog has a smelly ear infection. What can I do to help him?

I'm sitting my friends dog and he keeps shaking his head and then wining when he scratches his ear, I'm pretty sure he has an ear infection cause his ear smells more and more each day... So anyway my question is there anything I can do to help this puppr or maybe fix his ear ? He's really uncomfortable and isn't getting picked up for a few more days

You can try cleaning out his ear with an ear cleaner, however if it is smelly and bothersome, it likely needs to be seen by a vet to be cleaned thoroughly and antibiotics ear ointment started. I would let the people that own him know and see if you can get into his regular vet for care.

    This sounds like your dog is suffering from a bacterial or fungal ear infections. There are no home remedies for this. Your vet will have to examine the ear, make sure the ear drums are not perforated and take a swab of the ear canal to facilitate diagnosis. Depending on the diagnosis your vet will clean the ears and instill either a medication or have you do this over a longer period of time. Please take Sasha to a veterinarian ASAP.
