My dog has constant, very odorous flatulence. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 9 years old | 65 lbs

My 8-yr old male golden-irish dog has been producing very odorous flatulence about every 15mins for the last 20 hrs. Happens more when resting, lying down, or sleeping. He does glup down his food fast/seemingly not chewing, but has eaten that way for the past 7 yrs. we are a 1-dog household and usually feed him after dinner when no one else is in the room. no known food allergies or previous IBD. walked average 5days a week/30 mins at a time.

Maybe Zuma ate something outside or someone gave him some human food causing the gas. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If this does not help with the gas, have him seen by a vet.

He might be allergic to one or more ingredients in his diet, unfortunately it's very difficult to find out what it is, you need to try different types of diets until your find one that suits him. i would probably recommend starting with something like Royal canin sensitive digestion.

I have a White Staff, he passes wind at least once every 20 minutes & the smell is foul!! I have tried to change his diet but still the same! Please help...
Change his diet to boiled chicken and rice a GI formukabsince it is easy to digest. You can also add a probiotic to the food to help replenish the good, normal bacteria. If this does not help you can try gas x. If it continues then I would consider a check for parasites and blood work to make sure oral medicine is it needed

My dog ​​was all day with gas, they smell really bad. Is there anything i can do, or give it to him?
I am so sorry to hear that Benji is experiencing an increase in flatulance, as I am sure this is unpleasant for you. With no other clinical signs present at the moment, I would suggest that Benji has eaten something that doesn't agree with him. Perhaps a days worth of bland meals to help his intestines recover would be helpful. Boiled boneless chicken breast and white steamed rice are a good option, as well as prescription bland diet dog foods. I hope that this was a useful answer and that Benji returns to normal soon.

my 2 year old golden passes gas! Phew. What should i do?
Change Charlie's diet could determine less intestinal fermentation and decrease the production of gas. Bland diet (add rice or boiled potatoes and reduce slightly the protein content) and or probiotic could be tried. Probiotics can be found in every petshop and veterinary clinic.

My Great Dane has horrible gas, what can I give him?
You can try feeding Duke a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If this doesn't help, have him seen by a vet.

My dog has recently been having soft stool & gas
This could be due to a number of things, most like;y him eating something that disagreed with him, something too rich that he isn't used to eating. If you changed his dog food recently or introduced wet food to his diet this could be what started it. Other possibilities include parasites, food allergies, or bacterial infection. Try feeding him a bland diet for a few days, plain cooked white rice mixed with an equal part of plain boiled chicken breast, unseasoned, or plain hamburger, cooked and the fat rinsed off. If the symptoms persist or get worse, including developing new symptoms like diarrhea, lethargy and loss of appetite, get him seen by your vet as soon as possible for an exam and fecal analysis.

I put my dog on Hills dry food instead of Purina because he has a really sensitive stomach but his poo smells absolutely disgusting but he's stopped having loose stools like he was having while on the other food. I don't want to change foods again as
If he is a young dog it is possible that he has a mild food allergy or an easily upset stomach (sometimes this is irritable bowl syndrome). Typically strong smelling gas in from the diet. I think slowly switching Ziggys food to maybe a different protein source of purina would help calm down or stop the gas. However, if you want to try an over the counter probiotic every day in the food and see if helping the good bacteria grow improved the gas. Do not forget to have a fecal checked for parasites just incase! hope that helps

This is usually due to a dietary indiscretion, as a first approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. I have Bentley on a high protein grain free diet. I swapped him to this diet because he has gas on the extreme level. But this diet isn’t working. What can I do?
Hi there. I suggest you use a probiotic for Bentley. Fortiflora is my favorite but you can use any probiotic made for dogs (no human products or dairy). I would give it daily for one month to see if there are any changes. The probiotic adds "good bacteria" to his intestinal tract that may quiet the gas.
