My cat's anti-seizure medicine was late. Is she okay and what about the next dose?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9 lbs

My cat is taking Levetiracetum XR every twelve hours (twice a day) as per the prescription as an anti seizure medication. We give her the medicine around 5:30. today we lost track of time and she didn’t get it until 6:15. Should we be concerned about seizures occurring due to getting her medicine late? And is it safe to give her her morning dose at 5:30 am as scheduled?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Harley. Given it wasn't too far off when she should get her medication, this likely won't cause a problem. And yes, it will be safe to give her medication at 5:30am tomorrow. I hope this helps!
