Dog on urinary food peeing a lot. How often should I take him out?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 20 lbs

My dog has had urinary crystals in the past. He now is on royal canin urinary so food. Which has increased his frequency of urination which our vet had warned us about. How often is a good average span of time to take him out where he doesn't get too uncomfortable? We live in an apartment so he has to wait until we're home able to take him out. Are there tips to make his trips less frequent/urgent? He's had accidents only a couple times while we're not home or while we were asleep.

I'd take Louie out every four to six hours. It might be a good idea, if you can, to come home from work at lunch to take him out to potty. Take away water about an hour before bed, and take him out to potty right before bedtime.

Potty training a puppy takes time and patience. I can give you a method to potty train Louie. Start by keeping your puppy on a regular feeding schedule, and taking away his food between meals. Take him out to potty first thing every morning, and once every 30 minutes to an hour. Always make sure he goes out after meals, first thing when he wakes up from a nap, last thing before bedtime at night, and right before you leave the house. Take him to the same spot each time to go potty. His scent there will encourage him to go. Stay with him outside each time he goes to potty, at least until he is fully house trained. When he goes outside, praise him and give him a treat. You might want to consider crate training as part of his house training. It allows you to keep an eye on him for signs that he has to go potty, and will teach him to hold it until you put him outdoors. The crate needs to be big enough for him to stand up, turn around, and lie down, but it should not be big enough

My 7 week old mini goldendoodle puppy seems to be peeing rather suddenly throughout the day. I’m concerned she may not be able to hold it during the day when I return to work. I have taken some time off to help her adjust. Is there anything I can do
She is young to be trained but the best thing to do is keep her in a kennel while you are gone. Make sure she does not have enough room to owe and lay down somewhere else or she will. While at home feed her twice a day. Try about an hour before you leave so she can eat then go to the bathroom before you leave. Feed her at least 2 hours before bed. Make sure you take her out regularly while you are home so she understands concepts.

When you’re at home... • DO have a schedule for taking your puppy to designated area to eliminate. For example: • DO have a feeding schedule in which elimination breaks follow eating and drinking; this is a natural reflex in dogs. Elimination breaks should also follow napping/sleeping and exercise/play. • DO praise your puppy at the time he is eliminating in an appropriate place! You can also give him a small treat at that time. • DO constantly supervise puppy to prevent him from sneaking off and eliminating when you can’t correct him; try keeping him on a leash attached to your waist. • DO clean inappropriate eliminations thoroughly with enzymatic cleaner to remove residual smells that may entice puppy to revisit the area. A pet should always have access to fresh water. You can set up a schedule for going out. For example, take them out first thing in the morning, around midday, dinner time and just before bed. For the puppy, the general rule is to go no longer than 1 hour per month of age plus one hour before allowing him to go out to eliminate. This means the Husky should be taken out every 6 hours.

It can be very common for dogs (especially unneutered male dogs) to urinate many times over the course of a walk, both to empty their bladder and to mark territory as well. If this is a sudden change in his behavior or if there are other signs such as urinary accidents in the house or straining to urinate then I would have him evaluated by a veterinarian.

my pug has been peeing a lot more then normal. it doesn't seem to bother him but I'm kinda worried.
He may have a urinary tract infection if it has a foul odor and he is urinating more than once every hour. If that is the case then a brief exam and urinalysis through your vet should be able to detect the problem. If he does have an uncomplicated case of a UTI then a short course of antibiotics can resolve the problem. Best wishes and take care.

If I do not restrict water and have it out in a bowl all day my 8 week old puppy is peeing every few minutes. He knows the outside pee spot and will go there if I take him out in time, but he doesnt seem to have any control over just letting it go in
Thank you for using Boop by Petco! It is definitely normal for puppies to urinate more frequently than adult dogs. Every few minutes is excessive. Some puppies are just fascinated by water and drink constantly regardless of thirst. The 25 ounces is about double what Wallace needs per day, dog’s typically drink 1-2 ounces per pound. You should have him seen by a vet to rule out a UTI, kidney disease, or very rare forms of diabetes. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you have!

My 4 month old puppy is acting normal but peeing uncontrollably all of a sudden. About every 5-10 minutes for the last hour.
Hi there! It sounds like little Woody needs to visit the vet. Frequent urination can indicate a urinary tract infection (UTI). When bacteria develop in the bladder, it inflames the urethra (the tube out which a male dog urinates), and causes a dog to feel like he has to pee all the time. I would be even more suspicious of this if he has little urine coming out when he's trying to urinate. A UTI is probably not an emergency at this point, but it is likely to be very uncomfortable if this is the case. While very unlikely at this age, it is possible for the urethra to swell so much that it blocks the passage of urine, which quickly becomes a life-threatening situation. I strongly suggest bringing Woody to the vet ASAP if the frequent urination continues. In the meantime, make sure he has access to plenty of water to keep the bladder and kidneys flushed out. There isn't much that you can do for him at home safely aside from this. Do be on the lookout for blood in the urine, as this is anot

He can be fed dinner in the evening, then take up the water about 2 hours before you go to bed or out him to bed. He should be taken outside or placed on the pee pad just before bedtime. He should not be allowed to roam unsupervised inside as long as he is not fully house trained. He should be on a leash attached to your hip or crated. The crate should only be large enough for him to stand, turn around and lay down. Cues that he may need to go out include circling, whining, sniffing about or pacing.

I have a 3month old puppy and he was learning how to pee in the training pads but now he does it all over and it’s the second time he peed while he is sleeping, it’s this normal?
It could be that he isn't getting taken out often enough (a 3 month old puppy should go outside to potty every 1-2 hours and 1-2 times per night). You may also want to make sure he is kept in an area such as a kitchen or laundry room until he can hold it a bit better as giving him full run of the house is likely to just confuse him and lead to accidents. If the strange urinary behavior continues, or he seems to be showing any signs of illness with it, a vet checkup to rule out any health issues is always a good idea.
