Why is my cat always hungry and eating but not gaining weight?

What are the symptoms of a cat with a worm? Because my cat meows all the time and is around his food a lot. He was recently not doing well..my dad seemed to believe he had a problem with his liver..but he is eating and drinking again and isn’t gaining any weight back. What do you think? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 lbs

It doesn't sound like worms but anything is possible. If he is eating and drinking and not gaining weight my best guess would be hyperthyroidism. This can be easily diagnosed with simple blood testing. I suggest you get him to a vet for an exam.
