My dog is 58 days pregnant, bleeding, no labor. Is a C-section safe?

My dog is day 58 pregnant producing bloody discharge 3 days vet said slow labour 2 unltrsounds later 48+ hours no contractions considering a section but they said if they operate the pups won’t survive? No reason why they shouldn’t vets are going by age of pups day 58 in need of a second opinion

I'd have Defer seen by another vet now for a valid second opinion. I can't give one without seeing her in person, but a dog's pregnancy can be from 58-68 days, so I don't see why the puppies wouldn't survive if they are 58 days gestation now.

This is likely to be a sign of miscarriage, i would recommend taking her to the vet in about a week from now to have it confirm with an ultrasound. if the bleeding does not stop within 3 days or if the bleeding is severe take her to the vet earlier than that.

My bitch is on her 64th day of pregnancy and she has been letting out a clear discharge which I know is normal. However, last night she was letting out a brown coloured discharge follow by blood. I'm very worried. Is this normal?
This is highly abnormal, you need to take her to the vet urgently otherwise you will lose the puppies for sure and might also lose her. She is too old to be pregnant, you should have her spayed after this pregnancy or during the c-section which I suspect she will need.

This seems very concerning - there is typically no bleeding associated with labor before puppies are seen, and if you are seeing active contractions for more than 30 minutes with no puppies produced she could be having difficulty with labor. I would recommend seeing a vet as soon as possible. She may need medication to help the puppies along or she may need to have a c-section.

My dog is now 60 days pregnant and is discharging. Its clear and stringy coming from her vigina, is this ok and normal at this stage? Does it mean she can go into labor anytime?
This is normal leading up to birth. They are pregnant for 58-63 days so it will be any day since you notice a discharge with her days. If it is black or green then it is a problem and you should seek medical attention if noted.

My dog is about 51 days pregnant, yesterday she started a brown gooey looking discharge ? What could this mean
It could be normal discharge. I would not be concerned about it if she is still acting normal and eating and drinking ok. We only get alarmed if we see green or black discharge (which could indicate placental rupture). Some discharge can be normal during pregnancy, but the best thing to do is to take her to a vet who deals with canine reproduction for a full exam. I would do a vaginal cytology and/or culture to see if the discharge is normal, and take xrays or do an abdominal ultrasound to see how far along she is and to make sure the feti look normal, and that there is no sign of gas in the uterus which can indicate dead puppies. She should be far enough along to see heartbeats and count a heart rate on the puppies, which is the best indication of puppy health. The average pregnancy lasts 58-72 days . Unfortunately breeding dates alone cannot reliably predict when a dog will go into labor because sperm can last in the reproductive tract for some time before ovulation. So if she ovulated after April 23rd she still could have another week to go, or she may be 'past due' now with pups in fetal distress if she ovulated right on April 21. I would recommend checking in with your vet - they may be able to help age puppies (and count them!) with an x-ray and can make sure the pups do not seem distressed if they have access to ultrasound. It can also be helpful to monitor a rectal temperature 2-3 times a day to establish a baseline - typically there will be a drop of at least 1 degree before labor begins.

Hello. Dogs are pregnant an average of 63 days, so your girl is probably due any time now. If she is acting relatively normal, just give her a little more time. Keep a mental note on how much movement you are feeling in her abdomen & if it begins to diminish, or she acts lethargic, ill, vomits or develops a dark discharge from her vulva without going into labor, see your vet immediately. My bitch name is Lucy now she is in 63 days of pregnancy but her uterus bone is not open she is not able to give birth what should I do
If she’s having contractions and is not able to push the puppies out through her pelvis she needs immediate veterinary treatment. They will need to do a Caesarean section to remove them and they should spay her at the same time to prevent this from happening again.
