My 6-week-old puppy has bloody stool and is vomiting. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 15 days old

I got a puppy as an early Christmas gift. She is a 6 week old Great Dane puppy. I love her with all of my heart. She started pooping blood. Quite a lot of it. And puking when she eats. But I'm 16 and I don't have a job and asking my dad for help is a last resort. I don't know what to do.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Echo. She needs to see a veterinarian right away. She will need fecal testing to check for the parvovirus. This is a potentially fatal infection in young puppies. If this is not the case, then intestinal parasites are likely. These can also be diagnosed with fecal testing. Based on these results, treatment can be started to hopefully help her feel better. I hope this information helps!
