My kitten has a hard, red bump on his nose. When to see a vet?

My kitten has a bump on his nose. I am unsure of how he got it. It's very very possible he hit it on something while roughhousing with the other cat. It is hard to the touch and has gotten a little bit redder over time. Hes fine, eating normal and playing. No pain when pressing on it. Any advice?

Ouch, poor Winston. I'd just keep an eye on it for now. If it doesn't go away over the next few days, gets bigger, or starts to bother him, have him seen by a vet. Also have him seen by a vet if it appears infected or there is nasal discharge.

First of all Purrito is one handsome little guy! The bump on his nose is fairly prominent and also appears to be a bit red/inflamed through the fur. Cats do not often get as many lumps and bumps as dogs do, so when one pops up, we take a bit more notice. Some of the common causes of bumps can include benign or malignant masses, abscesses, granulomas, or in this case, even nasal cavity infections or tumors. The only way to determine the cause of this bump is through further testing, either including a needle aspirate (a needle draws out some cells for microscopic evaluation), x-rays, or even a CT scan or MRI of the head. Even though Purrito does not seem to be bothered by this bump, I still recommend taking him to the vet for further evaluation since bumps do not often go away on their own. It's better to address these issues before they grow larger and become potentially more problematic. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

Nose bleeds, balance issues and a growth on the nose are very worrisome signs that should be examined by your vet ASAP. Infections, systemic illness, neurologic issues, toxicity, something stuck in the nasal cavity, growths, tumors, etc can all be possible causes which would benefit from a complete exam. Your vet may recommend additional tests such as taking a sample of any growths, bloodwork, and looking in the nose itself to try and find the cause.

My cat has small black in color nodule on his nose close to the tip less then an inch in diameter. Should we be concerned?
From the pictures, it looks as though what you are seeing may be from trauma. Cat scratches to the face commonly occur on cats that are outdoor cats. Many times the hair will not grow back and the cat will be left with a small scar. If canto is indoor only and the nodule is raised, I would say get a vet to examine him to see for sure what it may be. It could be from a bug bite or a skin tumor of some type. If you cannot get to your vet right away, I would say just monitor for now and if it worsens get him seen sooner. It does not look infected or swollen from the picture. I would monitor for signs of infection which may include swelling, redness, painful to the touch, discharge, etc. I hope this helps! My cat has a small bump on the bridge of her nose. She doesn't act like it bothers her but when I touch it she pulls away from me. She is 14.
Just keep on eye on it. Seabiscuit may have gotten bitten by an insect or have a small injury. This should heal in a week or two. If it's getting bigger or becomes painful then a veterinary exam is recommended. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for Seabiscuit.

My 1 year old kitten has a pinkish visable bump on his chin/closer to the mouth line, im not sure if i should go to the vet soon or wait.
Unfortunately you did not attach a picture but if the lump is not painful or bleeding i recommend you continue to monitor for 3-4weeks. Any change in size, color or discharge would be concerning and should be checked by your vet sooner

Whats this red bump?
Thank you for attaching a picture of Leo's bump! It could be from an injury, such as him scratching his chin and accidentally cutting himself. I would keep an eye on it for now. If it doesn't go away in the next few days, gets bigger, there is pus from the area, and/or it starts to bother him, take him into the vet. Best of luck.

My cat is 5 months old and has a raised bump on his nose. Noticed it about 5 days ago and now has pus and blood. What could it be? Help!!
It could be many things, including a bacterial or fungal infection, ringworm, poorly healing wound, cancer, among others. Since there is blood and pus now present, I would recommend that Oliver get checked out by a vet. The vet can look at the wound and see what may have caused it, clean it up so it can heal better, and prescribe antibiotics or anti-inflammatories.

My cat started having bloody noses and a scab looking thing started to form. It's this bump in/on his right nostril. Not sure what to do or what it is.
Your picture is a bit blurry but I would worry that this might be a tumor. A nasal polyp or fungal infection might cause an ulcer and nose bleeds as well. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian to have Fatcat examined.

It looks like he may have a dermatitis on his nose which could be secondary to a bacterial infection, trauma, allergic reaction, or possibly a fungal infection. He should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can do a culture, if needed to help diagnose.

My cats has had a watery leaky eye, sneezing and has a bump on his nose
Poor Bean! If this has been ongoing for a few days, or the bump is bothersome or rapidly changing in size, it's time to see your vet. Runny eyes and sneezing can be a number of things, ranging from allergies, to upper respiratory infections, to irritation of the eye. If there is also a bump present, a blockage of the tear ducts or nose, or even an allergic swelling or minor infection could be the cause. It is best to have Bean seen by your vet to both determine what may be going on, and to help treat any symptoms. In the meantime, keeping his eyes clean and clear with a warm washcloth, keeping the bump clean and dry, and making sure he is still eating and drinking can help keep him comfortable.
