My young cat ate senior kidney food and threw up. Is she okay?

Poor Bella! Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.

Poor Bella! It's not normal for a kitten to throw up, but you can try a home remedy first before having to take her into the vet. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. This vomiting could be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten, pancreatitis, or a foreign body. Should Bella need to see a vet, the vet can diagnose the cause of the vomiting and can treat her for it.

Hello there! I'm sorry to hear that Bella isn't feeling well. Sudden diet changes can cause stomach upset, however I would expect that her symptoms would have started soon after the change and not a while later. While this still may be the issue, vomiting and diarrhea in such a young kitten can be concerning as they can get dehydrated easily, and Bella's lethargy makes me worry about this possibility. Causes may be parasites, a virus, or some other dietary indiscretion (like eating a toxin or a dead animal). I highly recommend that Bella visits a veterinarian if the diarrhea, vomiting, and lethargy continues as it could become dangerous for her small body. The vet will check her temperature, a stool sample for parasites, and may recommend an x-ray or bloodwork if they are concerned about something more sinister (like a bowel obstruction). In the meantime, keep her calm and warm, and offer her water and bland food (like boiled chicken and rice). If she doesn't perk up within the next fe

Cats been thrown up. Don't know if it is the food or because she likes to steal the others food. Therefore eating from different food bowls.Any idea as to why she might be throwning up?
She might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 6 hours then offer her boiled boneless chicken and rice every 4-6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues vomiting or is not eating, take her to the vet to get treatment.

I'm sorry to hear that Bella isn't feeling well. Vomiting and a loss of appetite in cats can be caused by a variety of conditions, including stomach/intestinal obstruction from foreign material (tinsel and ribbons are major hazards to cats this time of year), kidney disease, a virus, an upset stomach from eating different foods or treats, among many other conditions. Cats that go several days without eating (particularly those that are overweight) are at risk of developing hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease). Since this has been going on for 3 days and she is likely dehydrated as a result, I recommend taking Bella to her vet for a physical exam, blood testing, and abdominal x-rays to try to get to the bottom of this situation. Once the cause of her vomiting and loss of appetite are determined, your vet will be able to determine the best course of treatment. I hope this helps and that she is feeling better soon!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. To be honest, you can probably just offer Esmeralda a small amount of her normal food. Start with about 1/4 of her normal meal size. If she keeps that down well, you can give her a little more in a few hours (or just give her her normal sized breakfast in the morning). Of course, if vomiting recurs or attitude and appetite are poor, it’s time to see the vet. Best wishes to you and Esmeralda.
