Why is my senior dog suddenly eating more and always begging for food?

My 11.5yr old Bichon/shih Tzu mix has always been a grazer and sometimes wouldn't eat much at all throughout the day, hut recently he has started eating way more and constantly begging for more food as if he can't get enough. No other symptoms. Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Male | neutered | 11 years and 3 months old | 20 lbs

I recommend to have him checked for endocrine diseases such as hypothyroidism and Cushings disease. This could be the first indication that a problem is developing. Also have him checked for parasites. I hope this helps.
