My pigeon laid an egg, now she's not eating or pooping. Is she egg bound?

My pigeon has laid an egg a weak before. She eats small amount of food and drinks little water. She is not poopinp often. Before this she poops often. What should I do to make her healthy ? Please tell.

Thanks for reaching out about Sheephony. It sounds as if she could be egg bound. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/ treatment plan. Egg binding can be due to an inappropriate diet, especially lack of calcium. Pigeons need to eat more than just seed and greens often provide the calcium needed for strong bones, but also to replace the calcium lost in eggs. Good luck.

    Thanks for reaching out about Sheephony. As birds can typically lay eggs every other day, she could be egg bound. Provide heat support in the 80-85 F range to give comfort. Egg binding is often due to calcium deficiencies, dehydration or stress. Placing in the steamy shower room for 5-10 minutes might help. If not, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.
