Dog sick, lethargic, breathing weird after heat. Is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 11 years and 9 months old | 25 lbs

Hi my 11 year old female crossbreed was is just coming out of season and was crying a lot yesterday. Then today she has been sick once which was a brownish colour and since then has been very lethargic. Every 20 or 30 minutes she has what appears to be inverted seeing fits which she suffers from normally but it might be shallow breathing it's difficult to tell the difference. Any advice would be appreciated as there are no surgeries open at this time of night. Thank you in advance.

Poor Molly. I'd be concerned that she could be suffering from a severe illness, and it's serious she is having shallow breathing. She should see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
