My puppy has a fever and pain from teething. What should I do?

Hi, I have a four month old puppy and she’s lost majority of her bottom baby tooth and from what I can tell she’s hot meaning I think she has a fever. What can I do to stop that fever? And also to help with her pain?

Unfortunately there are no OTC medications you can give Mia for pain and fever. Many human ones are toxic to dogs, and can be fatal if given. You can put a cold compress on her head to see if that helps the fever. You will need to have her seen by a vet for these problems.

No, human pain medications are not safe for dogs. Many are toxic and can be fatal if given. If Mia is in a lot of pain, you need to take her into a vet immediately to get pain relief. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

If Mia has a fever it is probably because she is suffering from an infection. you need to take her to the vet in order to get her checked, if she has an infection indeed the vet will prescribe an antibiotic course for Mia to get better.

I just got my puppy and he was around a few people that had a cold and now i think hes got one I noticed last night he was taking alot of little breaths and it seemed like his heart was racing and his nose is a little stuffy and running a little bit
Do not give him any over the counter human pain relievers as they can be toxic to dogs. He should be examined by a vet to treat any problems that he is having. He may need an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory and your vet can prescribe the right medications to treat his problems.

Is there any type of otc medicine safe enough to give my puppy to help with a fever or fatigue?
Unfortunately no, there are no OTC medications that are safe enough to give Prince Tab. In addition, because I can't see him in person, even if there were ones it would be illegal for me to prescribe them to him. If he has a fever that is above 103F, then having him seen by a vet asap would be best. You can try to cool him down by placing him in a room with a fan. Best of luck!

my dog is bit unwell, he is bit warm and lazy. Can i give him paracetamol?
Thank you for submitting your question. I would not recommend giving paracetamol. While it can be given in some instances, it has a narrow margin of safety. Your dog appears to be a puppy from your pictures and would not be a good candidate for it. I would recommend he sees his veterinarian. It is best to diagnose the problem so he can receive proper treatment if necessary. In the meantime, encourage him to eat and drink as much as possible. Puppies can easily become dehydrated. My pug puppy got vaccinated today . The vaccination was corona booster dose. Now he has a fever and he is sleeping since 12 hours now should I give him medicine for fever?
I would not recommend any over the counter medication to reduce a fever. Usually a fever secondary to vaccines resolves within 24 hours and does not require treatment. If the fever continues or you notice vomiting, diarrhea or swelling around Murphy's face and eyes I would recommend seeing a veterinarian.

Poor puppy! Soak a wash cloth in cold water and freeze it. Then give it to him, but make sure to watch him closely the whole time. There are also toys you can get from the pet store that can be frozen and then given to him to help with teeth pain. Do NOT give him any human pain medications, many are toxic to puppies and can be fatal if given. Speak to his vet about prescribing him safe pain medications. I hope this helps!

A fever is possible. You can take a rectal temperature. He may a fever if it is over 102. If he has a fever, it should be checked out by a vet. There are no recommend at home treatments for fever in dogs that are safe. Do not attempt to cool him since you can easily make puppies hypothermic. Either way, I would recommend that he get checked out by a vet to see if there is a possible reaction to his current ringworm treatment.

Can i give Paracetamol to Candy? She is having high fever.

I would consult with your veterinarian for recommendations on what to use. You can get a prescription medication from your veterinarian that is much safer. No, you cannot give her baby aspirin or any other human anti fever medications as most are very toxic to dogs, as she is running a fever and has nasal discharge it's pretty obvious she is suffering from an infection and will need to be taken to the vet ASAP, she will need an antibiotic course.
