When should my puppy get their first vaccines? Is 6 weeks too early?

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 3 days old | 4 lbs

Hello, I have Siberin Husky puppies, and I would like to know when are they suppose to get their first round of vaccines? I was told by the pet store, that if i bring the puppies at 6 weeks they would not take them and the vaccine would kill them.

That is a lie and so wrong to say to you. Puppies can get their first vaccines as early as 6 weeks of age, but some vets like to wait until 8 weeks. Never listen to pet store employees about veterinary matters. They are not vets, and they do not hahe veterinary knowledge. Honestly, I’d report the employee who told you that to management. It’s shocking they told you the puppies would die. Shame on them.

Puppies typically get three vaccines starting at 6-8 weeks of age. Starting at 6 weeks is better than starting at eight. The boosters are 2-4 weeks apart depending on their risk. High risk puppies (in contact with a lot of dogs, or infected dogs) should get the vaccine every two weeks. The last vaccine should be around 16-18 weeks and is very important for them to get, because this is when they are most susceptible to getting one of the diseases we vaccinate for. What age are vaccines are given for a Husky and a Maltese puppy?
Both dogs should get their first vaccines starting at 6- 8 weeks of age. They should then have boosters around 10-12 weeks, then at 16-20 weeks. They should also receive a vaccine a year later. I hope that helps and all is well with your dogs.

Congratultions on your puppies! We normally start vaccinating at 6 to 8 weeks of age. At 6 weeks of age we can start what some call the "distemper vaccine" or the "DAPP" (helps protect against Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza). The Bordetella vaccine is normally given after 8 weeks of age and the Rabies vaccine after 12 weeks of age. I rescued a 4 week old puppy from Facebook. Her mother had milk fever. There were 5 puppies in the litter. They are Husky-Shitz Zu-Schnauzer. I have a female puppy. Wen I got her se had fleas. I bathed her in Neem shampoo and shes flea free. Anytime
No, five weeks is too young for vaccines. She has to be at least six weeks of age before getting her first vaccine, and even then, it still won't be safe for her to go outside and run around unless she is in a confined yard where no other dogs have access to it.

Hi there...my dog had a C sections this Thursday and I've been told that the puppies have to be vaccinated once they get 1 month old. I am afraid that is going to be a bit too early as everywhere on the internet it says they must be vaccinated at 6-9
I would start at 6 weeks of age if their mother was properly vaccinated. If she was, she has passed on antibodies to the puppies. If she wasn’t properly vaccinated, you could consider starting vaccines at 4 weeks of age if the label for the vaccine says it is safe to start then (each vaccine brand is a little different on when the vaccine can be used).

We got a Siberian huskey 3 weeks ago, at 8 weeks old. She had already been dewormed and was given a 3 shot series at home. ( at 6 weeks, and 7 week, 8 weeks) This seems to young to have all her shots and I wanted to know if I should give her a tieter
Vaccines are typically given at 4 week intervals, not 1 week intervals. Stella should be vaccinated at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age. She should have a complete physical exam prior to ensure she is healthy enough for vaccines. Core vaccines include the distemper/parvovirus combination vaccine and a rabies vaccine given after 12 weeks of age. Stella is likely not adequately protected following your vaccine protocol and should not be exposed to other dogs, especially dogs of unknown vaccine status.

The first vaccine (a DAPP shot, which contains distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza) should be given at 6-8 weeks of age, so your puppy is old enough now to start her vaccinations. I would recommend having this done at a veterinarian's office, to ensure that the vaccine will be effective.

are there any negative effects or harms in pre-vaccination or vaccinating before the age of 6 weeks?
Thank you for submitting your question regarding your puppy. Most vaccinations are not labeled for use in puppies less than 6 weeks of age. This is the age that they have been tested and found to be protective. Prior to this age, the puppy will still have antibodies from the mother and vaccination will not be helpful. Furthermore, it would place unnecessary stress on the puppy's developing immune system. Therefore, it is necessary to follow the manufacturer's instructions. I hope this information helps!

I have 5 week old puppies and am wondering when I should get their first shots and what they would include. They are German shepherds.
Around 6-8 weeks of age, they should get their first Distemper Parvovirus Adenovirus 1 and 2 (Hepatitis) Parainfluenza vaccine and Bordatella Kennel cough vaccine. They will need a Distemper booster every 3 weeks with the last one being given when they are at least 14 weeks old. The Rabies vaccine is generally given at 14 weeks of age but can be given as early as 12 weeks. Other vaccines that your vet may recommend include lepto, lyme and influenza, all of which require boosters 3 weeks after the initial dose. In addition to vaccines the puppies should be dewormed and checked for intestinal parasites via a fecal exam. Congrats and good luck!
