My baby cockatiel hurt its foot. Does it need a vet for a broken foot?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Male | unneutered

I don’t know what is wrong with my cockatiel, he hurt his foot. I don’t know how. He is only a few months old and his name is sunshine. The incident had to have happened in the past few hours. I don’t know if it is broken or if it is even worth going to the vet for.

Thanks for reaching out about Sunshine and including photos. It does appears as if there is a bruise on the foot. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and determine the damage. Soft tissue trauma can improved with pain medications, but a fractures should be stabilized. Make an appointment with a veterinarian. Good luck.
