When can I give kittens Revolution after Cheristin flea treatment?

Hello, my kittens use cheristin flea treatment and had a dose one week ago. However, they both now have ear mites and will be using revolution to help with that along with tresaderm and ear wash. How long should I wait to give them revolution after having a dose of cheristin last week? One kitten is 13.7 lbs and the other is 7.5 lbs.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. Sorry both your kittens have ear mites! You have to wait at least two weeks after you applied the cheristin before it's safe to give them Revolution. I hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear about your issue with Cheyletiella. They are a bothersome parasite to deal with! Apply Revolution every 2 weeks for 3 treatments (use appropriate dose for your kittens' weight). You can use Frontline Plus as well if you feel you aren't getting the results you wanted at the dosage of Revolution stated above. Fontline Plus can be applied every 2 weeks at the correct dose based off body weight for this problem. You should also use a lime silver dip or topical flea product to clean the kittens. Diluted bleach 1 part bleach:9 parts water sprayed on all surfaces and allows to sit for 10 minutes before wiping clean should help. All bedding and toys should be washed in hot water or thrown away. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I wouldn't apply the Revolution until 3 weeks after the Advantage. The red mites might be harvest mites, but I recommend having Speedbump seen by your Vet. I hope this helps!

It is generally ok to apply these two different topical medications 15 days apart but I would make sure that your kitten is at least 8 weeks old before using a fipronil based product. Good luck, those mites always make me feel itchy, I feel for you and your kitten!

Three 11 week old kittens received a dose split 3 ways of fipronil 4 days ago by previous owner. Found more live fleas today and gave them a bath witb dish soap. When can I give them kitten Revolution?
I would not recommend using revolution for 3 more weeks. You can administer an oral capstan. This will kill all live fleas for 24 hours. Also, make sure you are treating the environment to help decrease and manage the life cycle

My 9-week-old kitten has just started treatment for giardia. I'll also start him on Revolution for Kittens. Should I wait until the giardia is cleared before starting the anti-flea medication?
It is not necessary but probably best to wait until Giardia is completely resolved. REVOLUTION is safe for kittens as young as 8 weeks old so please make sure his age is appropriate before giving the product. Hi, My 11 week old kitten just came home from his care taker and I found flea eggs and a flea on him. The care taker advised that he had given him a dose of Revolution about 1.5 weeks ago. What should I do now?
It's safe to give Chester Capstar. This is a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes. Wait until it's been at least two weeks since he last was treated with Revolution, and then it's safe to give him a repeat application of it. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

We treated our 2 cats with a generic Advantage 2 a week ago. We just received our Revolution in the mail. How soon can we apply the Revolution for their flea infestation? They're 5lbs, and 6lbs. 5 mos old.
Great question! According to the package insert for Advantage 2, you can safely reapply once every two weeks, so it would be fine to give them the Revolution now. You can also give them Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes and is safe to give with the Revolution. Don't forget you will need to disinfect the environment as well. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I hope this helps!

I have a 7 lb. Balinese cat and am not sure that I was able to get the full dose of Cheristin on her the last two times I tried. Maybe only 1/2 a dose, but not sure. How soon can I try to give her another full dose? She's scratching like crazy and
According to the package instructions for Cheristin, it can only be given once a month, so you will have to wait until a month has passed before you can give her another full dose. Cats are exquisitely sensitive to flea medications, so it's very important to not overdose them with the medication. It's also important to disinfect the environment when a cat has fleas. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Next time you need to put a dose of Cheristin on your cat, I'd have a friend help hold her so you can get the full dose on.

Gave my solet indoor cats Revolution 4 days ago and they are still licking themselves raw, not sure if they have fleas, cause they won't sit still enough for my to check, all black cats. When can I give again?
You should wait at least 3 weeks before applying it again. You can use an oral product, such as CapStar (nitenpyram), which will kill any fleas on your cats within 30 minutes IF they have fleas. It can be given daily if necessary. To be safe, vacuum everywhere and dispose of the bag or empty the canister outdoors immediately after then wash all bedding in the hottest water allowable by fabric and dry in the dryer. Use a cat safe area treatment afterwards. You can use Indorex or Knockout ES, but you will need to keep the cats out of treated rooms until all surfaces are completely dry. Use e-collar (cones) to prevent further licking. They may need antibiotics to treat or prevent infection if they have open sores from licking. A diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution can be used to gently clean minor sores or abrasions.

Cat has ear mites. I’m waiting for first dose of Revolution to kick in (applied 2 weeks ago). I have been cleaning his ears pretty well with Zymox and cotton balls but I’m sure there’s still mites left in his ears where I can’t get to. I hate to see
Cute kitty! It may take 3-4 weeks for the revolution to completely rid the infection. You can purchase Eradimite or Otomite without a prescription and this may help rid the infection more quickly. Not sure if the Zymox you’re using is the treatment drops (which are great) or the cleanser (also a great product) but if it’s not the cleanser you are using already, then get some type of ear cleanser to help break up the “gunk” and get them out of there.
