My 45lb dog got wrong Frontline. When can I safely apply correct dose?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 45 lbs

My Mom gave my dog who is 45 lbs Frontline for a 20 lbs dog. I just ordered him the correct Frontline plus for his weight but should I wait now or gave half of the new dose?

I would wait two weeks, then apply the new dose onto Wellington. Even if you think you are giving half a dose, it may be more than that, and while Frontline is safe, too much can and does cause problems. It will be safe to give him the correct dose in two weeks. I hope this helps!

There was not enough Frontline for a full dose so I used two. Both tubes seemed only half full. I’ve used them for years. Should I wash some off? Or just watch for a little ash?
Fortunately Frontline does not cause any symptoms of toxicity at 5 times the normal dose, so a double dose would not be a problem. I'm not entirely sure why there wouldn't be enough Frontline in a tube however unless it was open - perhaps you had some tubes that were for a smaller dog (the tube size is the same for different doses but there is less medication for smaller dogs). If the tube was open it may not be as effective and you may want to consider adding a different preventative. If you are not 100% sure you have the right dose size the safest thing to do would probably be to wash it off.

We bought frontline plus for dogs 55 to 88 pounds by mistake. She is around 110 pounds. We tried one dose of it and it did little to help with her flea problem. It’s been almost two weeks and we are seeing quite a few fleas. Would it be alright to us
No this is not something i can recommend, i strongly advise switching to a different product as well because frontline is not that effective anyway, i would recommend Advantage spot on, but you must buy the correct weight because if you use a product for a smaller dog it will not work.

I applied Frontline plus on my cats 2 weeks ago and I thought they were only 6lbs. Today i weighed them and learned they're actually 17lbs. Can i apply a new dose for their correct weight? We still clearly have a flea problem.
Yes it is safe to reapply most topical flea preventatives every 2 weeks if needed. This should be fine and safe to do since you are 2 weeks out. However, if you are still seeing fleas after this correct dosing, it is best to consider switching to a more effective product such as Revolution. Hi—I used frontline plus on my 35 lb 10 month old golden mix on 10/1, but I just found a flea on her! Is it ok to put another dose on her?
Yes, you can safely apply every 2 weeks if needed. However, frontline does not repel so the fleas that are in the environment will still have to get on Molly in order to be affected by the frontline, so there is chance the flea just ingested the medicine and you found the flea prior to it killing the flea

I bathed my Morkie within 24 hours of applying frontline plus. It’s been around 15 days. I’m seeing fleas on her. Is it ok to reapply before the thirty days?
The active ingredients in Frontline Plus are rather safe, so I would not be worried about any toxic effects this long after you applied the previous dose. Considering the bathing likely did remove a fair amount of the previous solution and you are seeing fleas, it's safe to say that Maddie will need some extra protection. The manufacturer recommends not bathing until 48 hours after applying Frontline, but I always advise not to give a bath one week after applying topical medications like Frontline to be safe. To be extra safe, you can get a different product prescribed by a veterinarian. I hope that helps and all is well with Maddie.

I gave my cat frontline 2 weeks ago today and I don’t think it worked. In the past two days I’ve pulled off 5 living fleas. I’ve treated the house, washed linens and bought vets best spray. Nothing is working. I’ve also given her 2 flea baths. Would
Poor girl. Yes most topicals can be reapplied safely after waiting a minimum of 2 weeks. However, I would stop the flea baths, which can strip a lot of the product off the skin, leading to a decrease in efficacy. I am not a fan of Frontline due to its poor flea coverage, instead I would suggest another product such as Revolution or Comfortis for better flea management. Also just note that you can give Capstar, a flea pill that rids fleas within 1 hr but is not a long term preventative, at any time, without waiting 2 weeks after a previous flea treatment, if you have another outbreak of fleas. I could not get all the frontline plus on my puppy as he wiggled around so much. Most went on his hair. Help
You can wash the product off his har with Dawn dish soap (it is a grease/oil remover). Then wait 24 hours and apply the Frontline again. If you can't get the topical product on him effectively you may need to switch to an oral product or use a Seresto collar. One Seresto collar lasts up to 8 months. It is very cost effective and easy to use. You didn't mention the age of your puppy so be sure to read all package instructions to make sure products are safe to use on whatever age your puppy is. It is safe to reapply the Frontline now, but in my experience, it doesn't have great flea protection. You may have better luck with Advantage products or a Seresto collar. The best flea protection is the prescription oral flea preventatives, like Bravecto or Nexgard.

My choclate lab is 71 pounds. We purchased front line flea and tick for a 89-132 pound dog, is it still safe to use on the dog?
I wouldn't recommend using it on Sunny since she weighs less than the dose range. While dogs aren't as sensitive to flea treatment overdose as cats are, the potential is still there to cause toxic symptoms such as muscle twitches and loss of coordination. It's best to strictly follow the weight guidelines to prevent any toxicity from occurring. I would exchange the Frontline for a dose in her weight range.

You are correct that the water and the baths will interfere with her Frontline. Even though she will be a little late for the medication, long-term this will not likely cause any effects.
