My dog had a seizure, seems fine. Does he need a vet visit tonight?

My dog just had a seizure. I'm unsure if he is needing to go to a vet at this time. He was in the hot bathroom with my partner when he stood up from his bed, walked 3 ft, paws gave out from under him and he began to convulse. Lasted about a minute. It's now been 10 minutes and he's running around as normal. One thing to note, he constantly had been licking his paws to the point they're red. Do I need to get him to a vet tonight?

Poor Vander! I'm not sure how old he is, which is important as the age of the dog can help narrow down potential causes of the seizure. It is important that he does see a vet to determine the cause of his seizure, but because he is acting normally now and if an ER vet is all that is open, it can wait until the morning. Should your regular vet be open, I would see if they can see him now. Otherwise, if he seizures again before you can seek vet care: - Don't put your hands near his mouth - Keep some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle to spray on the pads of the feet for cooling - Monitor him at all times during the seizure to ensure that he cannot hurt himself by crashing into furniture, etc - If the seizure continues for more than 5 minutes, seek emergency care immediately While at the vet, be sure to have his paws checked out, as this licking may be caused by an allergy, infection, or injury. His paws are clearly bothering him if he's licking them to the point they are red. I hope this helps!
