Dog's ear leaking 'yucky stuff' after ear wash. What should I do?

My labradoodle was having ear issue, I bought an ear wash I think I may have put too much in her canal? What can I do? She’s itching it ( put her in a cone ) shaking her head constantly and it is leaking yucky stuff .. do I keep using the product ( directions say 7 days)

Poor Pippa! Her ear looks quite red in the picture, and I wonder if she has an ear infection. I would not keep using the product. An ear wash will not likely treat the infection depending on the ingredients of the wash, as ear infections can be caused by bacteria, yeast, or fungus. She needs to see a vet asap as this cannot be treated with OTC products, and leaving this untreated can lead to hearing loss, plus she sounds very uncomfortable. Please take her into a vet now to get this diagnosed and treated. I hope this helps.

Poor Pookie! If she has large amounts of wax in her ears and is shaking her head and scratching at them, it's likely that she has an ear infection - normal dog ears should be quite clean and not itchy at all. she will need prescription ear medication from your vet to treat the infection, so I would recommend taking her in for an exam as soon as you are able to. In the meantime, you can try cleaning her ears using an ear flush for dogs such as Epi-Otic. You can find ear flush at most pet stores. Squirt some of the flush into the ear canal, massage it gently to break up the discharge and wax inside, then allow her to shake her head. You can then gently wipe away any remaining wax with a cotton ball or soft cloth. This will not treat the underlying infection, but may help to make her a bit more comfortable until you are able to see the vet.

Poor Red! This ear looks quite sore and infected, so I would definitely recommend taking her to the vet for an exam. It looks like she will likely need oral antibiotics and possibly a steroid or other anti-inflammatory medication, in addition to whatever other treatment might be needed. While it's possible that she could have ear mites, yeast or bacterial ear infections are much more common in dogs - if this is the problem, she will need prescription ear drops from your veterinarian in order to treat the infection.

Dog has an ear infection and it’s dripping down her head.
Goodness, poor Bella. Ear infections can be very painful and difficult to heal if not treated appropriately. This will likely require a trip to your veterinarian, as the ear canal will have to be examined with a special scope, as well as a check to make sure the tympanic membrane (or eardrum) is intact. Many medications are not safe to use if the membrane is ruptured and can make your pet very ill and have unwanted side effects. After examining the ear, your doctor will likely do a cytology (or exam on a microscope slide) of the discharge and debris-this will determine what kind of antibiotic your pet will begin and for how long. As aforementioned, ear infections are very painfil-if you've ever had one you know this already. Your vet will likely also prescribe some medication for pain for Bella. Please don't put any water or other subtance in the ear before you have it checked out, as many of these things can actually worsen the infection. I hope this helps, and that Bella gets

I would like advice on what this could be inside my dogs ear. I’ve only noticed it today it’s about the size of a pea. She’s been shaking her head a bit today and whining.
Wow, something very strange. It looks like Pimms likely has an ear infection, in addition to whatever that critter/plant material is that has attached itself to her ear. She needs to get to a vet ASAP. This is certainly not life threatening, but I would still consider going to an emergency clinic for promote evaluation, cleaning, and treatment because she's probably quite uncomfortable. Good luck!

Hi. It does sound like Piper has another ear infection and the cleaning may not be enough to kill what's causing the infection. Ear infections are usually caused by yeast or bacteria. There's also a chance there may be something like a grasss seed stuck in her ear. I would recommend getting her to your veterinarian whenever you have a chance so they can prescribed the appropriate medications to kill whatever is in there. She may also have underlying allergies so if her ears don't clear up after treatment that would be something also to consider addressing with your veterinarian.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is likely due to an ear infection. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hi my 1 year old dog has some kind of rash inside both ears which is raised, grey red looking and smells a bit. I have attached a photo. Is this something I can treat myself?
It looks like your kid has a pretty severe ear infection there. The redness is inflammation and the gray area is thickening of the external ear canal from chronic inflammation. What would be best would be for your pup to be seen by your family vet for an ear exam and cytology. In order to treat this appropriately your vet will need to know if there are bacteria (and what type) or yeast or both in the ear canals and if the eardrum is intact. An anti inflammatory may also be needed because of the thickening. If ear infections are a chronic problem for your pup underlying allergy may also need to be explored. Poor Pookie! It sounds like she has a pretty serious ear infection. Most of the time these are accused by bacteria and/or fungus and mites can occasionally be to be blame as well. These conditions can be very uncomfortable and require veterinary care. Your vet can clean the ears out very well and prescribe oral and topical antibiotics and possibly steroids if needed to relieve some of the pain and itching. In the meantime, you can clean Pookie’s ears with an ear cleaner available in pet stores. This is unlikely to cure the condition, but can help get her some relief. An E-collar or “cone” can also help prevent further trauma. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!

This looks like it could have an early infection. I would recommend having your veterinarian do an exam to make sure there isn't anything going on like a middle ear infection. Since you've caught it early hopefully only a short course of topical medication will be needed.

This sounds like a serious bacterial or fungal ear infection. Your dog needs to be seen and examined by a veterinarian, the ears will need to be cleaned properly, the ear drums will need to be checked that they are intact and your vet will likely take a swab of the discharge to determine the cause of the ear infection. Your dog will then get treatment and medications according to the diagnosis. It is also possible that such ear infections are caused by certain allergies, Please take your dog to a veterinarian tomorrow.
