Why is my 12-year-old cat wheezing? Could it be allergies or asthma?

My 12 year old cat has started wheezing. Could he have allergies or asthma

Poor Boo. Yes it could be he has allergies or asthma, but it could also be a respiratory infection or something more serious like heart disease. Heart disease can be very common in senior cats. I would have him checked out by a vet for this issue quite soon, and I recommend giving his vet a call now to make him an appointment. I hope this helps!

    Given that Squeekers is an older cat, I'd be concerned this wheezing could be due to something serious like heart disease. I recommend a visit with the vet today for a health check since this has been an ongoing issue. Best of luck.

    Fur is not likely to cause breathing problems but it will cause hairballs. Wheezing is most commonly caused by asthma, allergic bronchitis, being extremely over weight and heartworm disease. I recommend to have Reggie seen by his veterinarian. The doctor will need to do radiographs to be able to see the lungs and heart and know what is going on. Treatment is prescribed based upon diagnosis. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
