My cat is limping, thin, trembling, and drooling. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Longhair | Male | neutered | 7 years and 7 months old

My cat was moved to an appartment today. He was at my mother's house, and she didn't have a lot of time to care for him. He is limping, probably fell off a high place, though seems to be healing according to my mother. He is abnormally thin since I last saw him, and he is trembling and salivating a lot. What is the best course of action for the next week, to ensure his safety and comfort while making sure he recovers? He was quite stressed today so I want him to rest, but I am worried for him.

Poor Boubou. If he is limping, he is in pain and unfortunately there are no OTC pain relievers you can give him. Human ones are toxic to cats and will kill him if given. Being abnormally thin is of great concern, and he could be trembling due to pain. Salivating a lot could be due to pain, maybe from limping, but it could also be from a dental problem which could lead to him being abnormally thin. Frankly I'm quite concerned about him and feel the best course of action for him is to take him into a vet immediately. I think he warrants an emergency vet visit now, please do that. I hope this helps.
