My cat ate chicken cooked with garlic. Is it toxic or safe for her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 8 months old | 11 lbs

I am worried because my cat had some chicken cooked with garlic. She didn't eat any actual garlic, just chicken that had been cooked in stock and wine with whole cloves.

While garlic and onions are toxic to cats at certain dosages, there's no way that Tippi consumed enough garlic from the chicken to cause any issues. While I wouldn't intentionally feed her garlic containing foods again, I wouldn't worry one bit about the chicken that she ate today. I'm sure she enjoyed her tasty treat!
