Why is my dog's poop soft and blobby but not loose? Is it normal?

My Shih Tzu Romeo pooped this morning and it was small blobs but they were not hard or dry. Not loose either and is soft like play dough . Can that be a normal occurrence at times? He isn’t in any pain and appetite is great! Thanks. Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 8 years and 11 months old | 12 lbs

If he is otherwise acting normal then you can monitor for a couple days. He may have just ate something that caused some gastrointestinal upset. If it continues or he starts vomiting then he should be examined by a vet for treatment. You could feed a bland diet of chicken and white rice and also add a canine probiotic to his diet to see if that helps restore balance to his gastrointestinal tract.
