Help! My bunny ate an apricot. Is it safe or dangerous for my rabbit?

my bunny just ate one apricots without me looking please is it so dangerous? i’m so scared

Apricots are safe for bunnies to eat, as long as Mimi did not eat the stone of the apricot. If she die eat that, then she will have to see a vet immediately as it can cause serious problems. I hope this helps!

It shouldn't kill her, but it may cause stomach upset. Make sure she continues to eat and drink over the next couple days. Offer as much timothy hay, oat hay or similar grasses as she will eat. Monitor for lethargy, loss of appetite or loose droppings. If she stops eating, have her seen by your veterinarian right away. Discontinue any treats for the next few days.

Eating/biting/tasting a tangerine is not harmful to rabbits. I would not be worried about this at all. As for the chocolate, if it was a small piece of chocolate, no harm will come to your rabbit. But if your rabbit was to eat a large amount of chocolate, that is a very serious situation that means an emergency visit to the veterinarian’s office. Hope this answers your question. Best wishes.

When I came home, my rabbit was out of her cage, and the room is not very bunny proof. I checked her over and she has a chunk of hair missing which I guess was ripped out by my other female (who is in a cage). I also discovered my rubbish bin tipped
The biggest concern would be that she ate something she shouldn’t have thatcan’t be digested. If so, she may have a blockage or get gastric stasis. Keep a close eye on Mistie over the next day or two. If she stops eating, drinking or pooping, or if she becomes more lethargic than normal you will need to take her to see a vet.

A one time ingestion of a tiny amount should cause no major harm. You may see some stomach upset or a temporary slight decrease in appetite. More dangerous would be an ingestion of a large amount or multiple ingestions of small amounts over a long period of time.

thanks for reaching out about Billie Jean. Apple seeds can contain a cyanide-like compound. Unfortunately it is not possible to make rabbits regurgitate, so a veterinary visit would consist of a gastric lavage. Monitoring food and water intake, maintaining high fiber intake can stimulate gastro-intestinal passage. Good luck.

Hi Jaime! There are a lot of fruits and veggies that are safe for rabbits. Leafy greens, like kale, parsley, and cilantro should make up the bulk of their non-pellet, non-hay treats, but fruits in moderation can be great for them, too. Bits of apple, strawberry, pear, papaya, mango, banana, and apricots are good choices. Make sure that they are washed well, and that they don't encompass more than 5-10% of your rabbits' diet. Avoid avocado, all seeds and pits, and wild fruits and veggies. Good luck!

My rabbit is 6 months old and she ate a whole white chocolate twix while I was sleeping, after 8 hours she's seems fine and she eats, but I read online that someone's rabbit died after 48 hours without any symptoms, vets are closed today and tomorrow
White chocolate has very low levels of the toxic ingredients of chocolate - theobromines and methylxanthines, however, it can still cause issues especially in a small animal like a rabbit. Yes, they can die suddenly; basically from a heart attack. This article will help answer more of your questions. t is likely that if it was a small piece of chocolate, no harm will come to your rabbit. But if your rabbit was to eat a large amount of chocolate, that is a very serious situation that means an emergency visit to the veterinarian’s office. So, how big was the piece and what type of chocolate? Chocolate candy is very dangerous to all animals. The active ingredient in chocolate, theobromine, is metabolized much slower in animals than in people, and it can build up to toxic concentrations in animals that ingest too much chocolate. This can cause multi-organ disease and failure if not treated properly. The treatment used in dogs and cats that ingest chocolate is to induce vomiting to remove the chocolate from the stomach. We cannot do that in rabbits, because rabbits cannot vomit. This leaves us with a difficult dilemma on how to treat without being invasive. Sometimes veterinarians can use a stomach tube to remove and dilute the chocolate that is remaining in the stomach, but this is

I would just monitor for gastrointestinal upset. Usually these are not toxic but can cause soft stool. In rabbits soft stool can be considered an emergency. Rabbits eat a part of their feces to help them digest food. If Alpha develops diarrhea I recommend taking him to a vet for an exam.
