My dog's eye is hurt, squinting, and gooey. What can I do at home?

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Female | 1 year and 5 months old | 10 lbs

My chihuahua slipped her collar and harness and hurt her eye she is squinting and now has goo coming out of it I tried a compress everything is closed is there something I can do here at home

The most you can do at home is to place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent rubbing or scratching and keep the eye free of discharge. She may have sustained a corneal injury and/or developed an infection. A foreign body cannot be ruled out. Have her seen by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER as soon as you can. Potential eye injuries or infections should be treated as emergencies since they can be quite painful and may cause permanent loss of vision.
